It is possible, but you're right about it being hardcoded. There's no config to change, no way to pick your own save location in the normal fashion.

However, you can redirect the save folder, which accomplishes the same thing, like so:

Navigate to the game's main save directory: \steamapps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games\. Move the entire Games folder to your desired new location. For example, D:\EmpyrionSaves\Games\.

Create a symbolic link.

Open Command Prompt as an administrator by searching for "cmd" in the Start Menu, right-clicking it, and selecting "Run as administrator." (You can't get admin command prompt by typing "cmd" into windows app search, it won't have admin rights.

Enter the following command, replacing the file paths with your own:

mklink /J "C:\<Your Steam Library>\steamapps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games" "D:\EmpyrionSaves\Games"

Press Enter. The command prompt will confirm that a symbolic link was created.

This will only work if you are logged into an admin account & open the command prompt as administrator.

In the end, Empyrion will try to save where it always did, but Windows will redirect the save folder location to the new location you specified.

I was really excited for this game but so far it feels like it was rushed out and it's definitely not ready for sale. Why are they charging $20 for an early access game with so many bugs!? Huge bummer.

For those of you who are getting a 0xc00007b Application Error when attempting to launch this game, I found a fix that worked for me.

There are two dll files that need to be placed in the program directory that are part of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable. For some reason, there are two versions of these dll files. One version will work, the other will not. I believe these are the 32 bit versions.

The correct versions are as follows:
msvcp100.dll File size of 412KB
msvcr100.dll File size of 756KB

(you might need to search your hard drive to see if you can locate them in another games directory)

Place these two files in the "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\SteamWorld Dig" directory and see if you can now launch the game.

If you don't have these versions, you might want to locate them from a trusted dll site.
