ayup, that's the intention.

they've released a game that's only about 2/3rds done. funneled players to PvP because they didn't have anything else to release as actual endgame. all the changes they've made since are designed to slow down players. (lowered drop rates, more difficult access to flour sand, etc)

they're hemorrhaging players, and since this is a buy-once-play-forever with DLC/expansions to augment income... losing players now isn't a problem if they can bring them back with more "content" later.

if you wonder why this makes little sense, it's because they're playing a game of minimum viable product.

Let me be clear: this game has a lot of potential and could be a really great game, and we all want it to succeed! but going around pretending there isn't a problem, outright dismissing the issues, or ignoring or attacking the player base is what's holding the game back and hindering it, not raising the issues because they are still issues years later
