they seem to not be moving on their stance that you should get to the part of the story the character appears in before you're able to "resonate" with them, or whatever

you can still get it early with coop, which seems to communicate that they don't actually care, but who knows

As others have noted, it's not that people can't afford it so much as why pay more for less content when there are plenty of other solid games in this genre that sell for much cheaper?

Less content? the game isn't out yet. Kind of a weird thing to say. It might turn out to have less content or just be a lackluster game. We will have to wait and see and make an informed decision after release.

Games like Stardew Valley are awesome and cost less, that's true. If you're content to play that instead of new games, it would be foolish for anyone to convince you that's the wrong choice. There's nothing wrong with playing old games.

Game pricing isn't standardized, and there's absolutely no relation between the price tag of a game and the amount of content you'll receive, and it's incredibly immature and even immoral to insist that one should exist at all, unless you think games should charge by the minute and I should have paid $15,000 for a game I put 3,500 hours into and 20 cents for Stray, a game I played once and thoroughly enjoyed, without resent to the price I paid for it.

I don't agree with you at all that it's not about people not being able to afford it. I think the people making the argument that since other games cost less, they will not buy this one, are children who don't respect games as art and don't understand the value of the skills required to make a competent multimedia project. Anyone still spewing these toxic ideals past the age of 25 are rats to society and must be exterminated, as Tolkien would have wanted himself.

This started out reasonable and then escalated at the end to essentially promoting hate crimes and attributing such an idea to Tolkien. Someone needs a timeout in the corner.
