Inventory should stay with your bug when it gets downed.
When you switch to a different bug the inventory gets switched automatically, so unless there's an option I've missed you can not do different inventory loadouts for different pets.

it feels like the consequences of overheating a base aren't in the game yet it wil prolly be important to stay within the cooling capacity later to prevent maybe damage or more downtime.

Yeah, turrets can damage other turrets, I've had it happen during horde beacons. Zombies will move around and get in front of one turret then another turret will damage it while shooting the zombies.

The Meta Quest does not use Direct Mode. It is a mode for headsets that are directly connected as displays though HDMI or DisplayPort.

Direct Mode also has nothing to do with games rendering both to the headset and desktop. If a game renders to the desktop, it is a feature of that individual game, not SteamVR.

If yer lucky you might find the Battlecry ring that lets you spend health instead of focus. Spell, then heal and repeat. Absolutely nukes all the current content
