There are many enemies that don't have a skill. If they do have a skill you can gain (that you haven't already gotten), they will have a little leg icon by their health bar. If the icon is not there, there's no skill, or you already have it.

awhh, okay. thank you. a bit sad that not every enemy has a skill, but i understand that they just wouldn’t fit in some places and would mess with the camera and would probably be a mess to balance

It isn't really the servers' fault about those wipes, there were lots of compatibility breaking updates after the 1.0 release.

The story has been in for years (even during alpha), but not on most multiplayer servers. Still isn't, and won't be.

The problem is that the vanilla story destroys many of its POIs as you visit them, so only one player could make progress between playfiled resets. For that reason they remove story elements from the Default Multiplayer scenario. Reforged Eden workshop scenario does a better job, making its story missions better compatible with playfield resets. It is less complete, though.

You can play the vanilla story just fine in single player. You can also run the Default Random scenario (vanilla single player story) on your own server to play with your buddies. It works well enough if you are playing it together. Sometimes you will have to have the second player re-flip a switch to make progress, or manually check off a progress box in the PDA. But it mostly works.
