While slashsliding a bunch of people is nice, getting reach and surprise against single targets is the main thing I do with it for sure. (Occasionally I'll slashslide to one person and then slashslide again into more people.)

Some maps are just bad fits for them given how spread out everything is, how there arent right angled cooridors or pocket rooms, or other features that make closing the gap leave you short an attack. Some mission types like Pure Combat are harder cause of this rolling swords because killing many mooks at range, who will shoot at you unless dispatched, isnt as possible with swords vs. Snipers teams or entire full auto AR coverage that can.

However, preempt and choppa make them one of the better interrupt and prosper classes - starting a turn with 8 AP after killing a mook on the mooks turn is great, theyre reasonably the 2nd best 'dispatch and dispose' class after scourge because its bloody likely theyll be on top of their kill to do so, and stunsticks provide a very decent pause tactically that can be gotten elsewhere too but consume talent and not equipment.
Note that, like everyone else, you can give your cybersword a big gun when deploying for full combat missions.

I'd usually bring someone else, since I've got two soldiers and a sniper to fill out the team, but having a sword doesn't preclude having a mission-appropriate gun. And those missions do sometimes offer decent swording opportunities.

The general thing I've run into several times is that I usually have a better fit to make the most use out of an AR or UAR for Pure Combat than a Vanguard/Sword MC, so I go with them instead, but yeah - they are totally capable of taking the AR and laying it down too. I just feel so goofy not using the blade for almost everything if their whole thing is the blade, ya know?
