hard mode should not have been on the priority list in my opinion.

(In honesty I think the people who thought it was underwhelming were the people who completed the game and didn't want to try hard mode)

you realize this is the majority of the player base right from their peak numbers.

to be clear i dont mind having a hard mode but it should not be before other content IMO. thats all.

magic was underwhelming cause it was, the abilities were underwhelming it was not much more enjoyable then it was besides more flat damage buffs from the progression tree. the qol/(graphic options <---- shoulda been in there right away honestly)/ and vulkan support are nice and all. overall the combat is just a bit janky needs alot of work. i woulda liked it if they let it bake a bit longer before releasing in EA i feel like there should be more skills in the game already before releasing into EA its TOOOOOOOOO under baked

Eh I kinda disagree.
Like sure hard mode being there doesn't change much, but I think Hard Mode actually makes the core game better at least for me. I'll most likely play the rest of the game in the future in Hard mode exclusively.

The reason I think getting hard mode in early isn't a bad idea is because this sets the stage for future updates and content drops, where they can easily balance them as they come out, instead of waiting til the game is full launch and they have to fiddle with hundreds of enemies to balance. This saves them time and struggling.
For contrast, the opposite reason is what they used for why they didn't bring out Hardcore mode, because Hardcore mode is better to be played when the whole game is present, letting the player attempt their one-shot with the whole game instead of just pieces of it.

As for the spells, I also disagree. Confuse and Surge are a very fun set of spells themselves, and give solo Mages something very useful, a diversion.

Surge for example, not only being a very fast dodge which helps a lot for enemies getting too close, can also create illusions that distract enemies. This gives the player plenty of time to get some distance, either to escape danger, or get time to pop off magic/ranged shots.

Confuse works similarly, not only turning enemies against each other, but creating a diversion for you to get your distance.

And lastly, No it is not the majority lol. The Steam discussions forums is not the majority of RuneScape fans. Reddit and Discord represent more of the fans than the people here complaining.
Not to mention the review count alone doesn't even represent your claim.
Over 16K Positive reviews vs 3K negative?

The majority of players from launch no longer playing doesn't mean they hate the game or that they were underwhelmed with it. There's plenty of factors to consider, and sure some people may have disliked it. But most of them are just done. The game is short right now in terms of linear content, and the only people still playing are either people just getting in on the game now, or people who like building. Otherwise, everyone else is just waiting for the next big content drop in December.

This is normal my dude, especially with slow-burn developed games, where content drops are within months instead of days or weeks. The game's not dead, lol just resting. Devs are hard at work, players are taking a break while the devs cook and playing other things. This is a normal cycle.
like youve said in several arguments. people play and leave after they play the content and wait for more. nobody believes a hard mode is (content) you gatta lieing to yourself to make that line of logic track in any capacity. its why alot of what you say i tune out because its just mental gymnastics for half of it
where as half of what you say about magic being fine for you is subjective and understand how you can disagree and that makes sense
however trying to cope about hard mode when my critique is more then valid is just objectively wrong.
if you think the vast majority of people are gonna come back just for hard mode
then i would say you are out of touch
i also never mentioned the reviews. or anything like that so completely pointless
argument.

you said this
In honesty I think the people who thought it was underwhelming were the people who completed the game and didn't want to try hard mode)
I
said the majority of people havent played hard mode
so alot of people would find the magic update pretty underwhelming by your own words
its why its annoying trying to make arguments wiht you because you jsut say so much useless extra filler info that doesnt add to the overall argument its exhausting having to read it all then pick out what actually makes sense to the topic of discussion

You realize YOU are operating on way stronger assumptions here right?

No. I haven't said it's being handled or isn't being handled. I'm waiting for evidence, and that generally is the responsibility of the person making the claim (you).

I can tangibly see the playerbase get more toxic. In the beta there was no toxicity. During release there was little. It rapidly increased among high level players, and today was the first time I was called a slur twice in a single day. From my perspective, as I have stated in the OP, it is getting significantly worse.

That's not my experience but it's fair to assume that your experience may be different. That still doesn't change the fact that this thread is a complaint for no good reason. There's already a system in place to handle this, so unless you have evidence that it isn't working, you're complaining for no reason. Maybe offer a suggestion, or at least evidence that it isn't working.

I am completely flabbergasted that you think the observed trend is "no ground for argumentation". You just blindly assume the established mechanism is adequately handling the issue despite me literally arguing by observation it is not.

I can't help that you feel flabbergasted, but you haven't made an argument, just a baseless complaint. It would be like me encountering people making terrorist threats in a few games and claiming the game has a trending terrorism problem that needs to be addressed. You're always going to have random people that break the rules, and that's what the report feature is for. The only reasonable next move is if the report system isn't working. Anything else is just complaining for the sake of complaining.

I'm not blindly assuming anything. I'm pointing out that the mechanism is there, and you haven't provided any evidence that it isn't adequate. Maybe it is adequate, maybe it isn't. Without evidence, taking a side is a waste of time.

I am done talking to you :). Blocked.
