Don't ignore Sekoku, I also wasn't ever able to finish the campaign with the GOG version. Many people couldn't. I imagine it had to do with some weird modern hardware incompatibility or something.

My vote would be for this version. It's supposed to play a little nicer with newer rigs. If you're going to buy one, buy this one. Like others have said before, If you already have the old GOG version, and it plays fine, by all means stick to that.

One of the weapons is called Adaptation Pod, what do you think?

Well, calling RE4 Remake pointless just because the original is still playable doesn’t really hold up. A game being available doesn’t mean it doesn’t need a remake.

It wasn't just playable. It was re-released multiple times, and some of those versions were not just simple ports. It even got massive community upgrades on PC, such as RE Tweaks.

If that game needed a remake, then the other RE games that didn't even get 10% of the attention would need it more.

Imagine you buy the RE4 remake, but it turns out it's on first person view, has the inventory from RE7, the Merchant and weapon upgrading system has been replaced with something else, and Salazar no longer exists. Would that be respectful to the original game, despite whatever they may add to make up for it? Well, that's more or less what RE2R and RE3R did.

Can't see how rebooting the whole gameplay style, removing key features, enemies, even entire locations, and butchering characters and plot elements for no reason is respectful to the original games.

You can prefer the old versions but these remakes aren’t here to replace them. They’re here so Resident Evil doesn’t become a museum piece.

The franchise won't become a museum piece because the actual new RE chapters (7, Village, Requiem) won't let that happen.

But it is a remake's job to recapture and honor the game it takes its name from, to bring an updated version of the same core experience. A remake ashamed of playing and feeling like the original is essentially just a new game with an old game reskin, an excuse to let companies save money on the creative process by not having to write a new story and setting from scratch.

I fail to see how RE4R is a 'fresh take'. It doesn't do anything we have not seen before many times. Which is fine because as a remake it's not its mission to reinvent anything, those who actually want something fresh don't ask for remakes. 4R is the most correct and faithful of the three modern remakes by far, since it does respect the base structure, style, and mechanics of the original game.

ya, even still. its kind of crazy to see a hero tank through 2 to 3 towers full of archers... WATCHING the AI have constant pathing issues... and occasionally I actually get to manage to hit it with abilities. Just for it to NOT ONLY tank the ♥♥♥♥ out of all that... AND to occasionally, crazily, snipe kill me in 3 hits... but it also keeps rehealing without leaving my base?

AND ITS ALONE!?! (all its people died or fled a WHILE ago)

The game is gacha but it is more on the generous side. I'm not going to go into what the cash shop sells but if you buy the battle pass ($35 for all tiers) and/or the monthly cards ($5 or $10), you are essentially considered a whale and you will be very comfortable. My recommendation is play the game for free and see if it's something you want to support. The game is not trying to nickle and dime you and is very generous. If you don't like the monetization, well at least you gave it a fair shot.

Generous my ass. You can't buy exact the amount of crystals to get 10 pulls, you can only under or overpay. You have 2 different currencies for pulls and a third one for special packages that you can only buy on their websites.

I played some gachas in my life but none was such a big red flag of greed like this one.

this table physics are whack! Like way too wack! Granted I played machines that has some use on them but dammit, I never drained like in this game. Come to think of it, the same happens with bride of pinbot but not as much.
