Don't be afraid to upgrade Gnosis - it'll make you overall stronger. But ...

Explore every available map and side-dungeon (Vaults, Tower) in the current Gnosis level before advancing to the next Gnosis-level, because that - i assume - is how the game is supposed to be played. -> Exhaust all options, then advance.

Your primary goals should always be:
1. to get familiar with the layout of a new map;
2. to farm for all kinds of ressources on a new map (guns, spells, beads, masks, etc);
3. to become as confident and proficient on any map to be able to clear it fully without much hassle.

Bosses can (and for the most part should) be skipped and dealt with later. I think this is a thing that Newcomers often get wrong when starting with Witchfire. Bosses are hard hitting Trucks, and they CAN and SHOULD be skipped in the first half of the playthrough. Don't rush into death. Take ya time.

Also, the Gnosis Tome is giving you requirements (or let's say suggestions) for each Gnosis stage. Bosses appear relatively late in these requirements. So again, don't rush them. Gear up. Get confident. Revisit.

I've been enjoying this game but my god the Performance makes me want to drop this game. I've been looking up tutorials and I've still gotten FPS dips and intense Lag's.

Is there any way to even fix the FPS in this game or am I supposed to just deal with it?

that would be your input delay, its recommended to have 7f of delay but you can lower it down to zero which should alleviate your problem
