Yep, all armor have bonuses to damage you do.
You have to hold the button to make shield work and block damage. If you raise your shield right before attack hits you - it will make a "perfect" block and shield won't take damage. If you shield breaks, you simply won't be able to use it for few seconds, then it will restore itself.
Barely ever used shield tbh, because ranged combat is so much easier to do.

Everytime I try to get into Dead Island 1, it knocks me on my ass. Definitely feels made for co-op. Was wondering if 2 was a little more solo-friendly.

This branch isn’t just for you—it’s for everyone who encounters similar issues. Right now, it’s hard to say whether we’ll be able to fully resolve these problems since they occur for unclear reasons. Maybe it’s due to some unusual conflicts with certain PCs.

almost always the gear is broken, not worth repairing and selling because you lose profits. Selling sticks, herbs, mushrooms is like something you do when desperate but I doubt it's something you mainly do for money. Food/repairs/ammo/inns is too expensive for the amount of money you make selling sticks, herbs, mushrooms alone i would think. Haven't tried selling leeches, but i seriously doubt i would be making much? Unless I'm wrong and leeches make big bucks.

Right now I cannot get any furs because rabbits and deer are way too hard to chase down early game and carving for fur is at a low percent since I don't have the tier 3 survival skill that increases fur drops from carving.

I want to be able to find something consistently that sells for good money. The only thing I can think of is going into dungeons when they respawn and then hoping for good loot like jewelry and silverware.

At the moment hunting for pelts is reliable low danger source of income. But you need good ranged for it or rely on luring animals into traps. You also need Survival skill tree investment to get pelts. Sell them at Drunken Huntsman for max profit.

yea i figured as much. If i wanna do hunting now, it have to basically play my old hunting ranged character. I kinda wanted to do something else but it is what it is i guess. I'm just gonna completely ignore hunting and go melee and dive dungeons and see how that goes
