Dear Valve Developers and Counter-Strike 2 Team,

We, the dedicated community of Counter-Strike 2 players, are writing to express our profound concern and frustration regarding the catastrophic state of cheating and suspicious bot activity that is currently ruining gameplay and eroding trust in the game.

Core Issues:
Cheating Epidemic:
The number of players using cheats (aimbots, wallhacks, triggerbots, radar hacks) has reached unprecedented levels. Nearly every match (especially in unranked modes, but also in competitive play) involves blatant or highly suspicious cheating. Current anti-cheat systems (VAC, Overwatch/Reviewed Cases) are clearly failing to handle the scale of the problem. The speed of detection and punishment feels disproportionately slow compared to the proliferation of cheats.

Suspicious Bot Accounts:
We are observing an alarming trend: accounts with names mimicking real players but exhibiting bot-like or cheat-assisted behavior. These accounts:

Have strange, templated, or nonsensical usernames (often appearing auto-generated).

Display highly unnatural gameplay: erratic movement, random wall-banging, instant reactions without audio/visual cues, yet often with low overall impact.

Seem deliberately placed in matches, potentially to fill lobbies or mask queue times. Their presence creates grossly unbalanced and unsportsmanlike matches, as they are either useless or use suspicious mechanics.

Undermine our trust that we are competing against genuine, fair players.

Consequences:
Destroyed Gameplay Experience: Fair, competitive matches have become rare. Constant encounters with cheaters/bots breed frustration, anger, and a desire to quit.

Loss of Trust: The community is losing faith in Valve’s ability to protect CS2’s integrity. There is a growing perception of developer indifference.

Player Exodus: Many loyal players, including series veterans, are reducing playtime or leaving entirely due to the lack of improvement.

Reputational Damage: CS2 risks permanently cementing a reputation as a "cheater-infested game," deterring new players and causing long-term brand harm.

Our Demands:
Immediate Acknowledgment & Action:
Publicly acknowledge the severity of the issue. Declare that combating cheaters and suspicious bots is your #1 absolute priority.

Urgent Anti-Cheat Reinforcement:

Significantly increase resources for VAC, machine learning, and manual review teams.

Implement frequent, large-scale ban waves. Cheaters must face real and swift consequences.

Revamp the reporting system: Add transparency (e.g., notifications when reports lead to action). Consider temporary bans for mass-reports combined with rapid verification.

Restrict Cheap/Throwaway Accounts: Enforce stricter measures for new accounts (e.g., mandatory phone verification for ranked, higher XP/playtime thresholds for competitive access).

Investigate "Suspicious Bot" Accounts:

Publicly clarify if these accounts are Valve-operated (e.g., for lobby filling). If so, immediately cease this practice – it is destructive.

If not Valve-operated, explain their prevalence and behavior. Enhance detection and blocking of such accounts.

Provide clear criteria distinguishing genuine new players from bots/cheaters.

Transparency & Communication:
Release monthly progress reports detailing banned accounts, anti-cheat improvements, and emerging threats. Show the community you’re actively solving this.

Conclusion:
Counter-Strike is a legendary franchise built on fair competition and skill. The current state of CS2 jeopardizes this legacy. We love this game and want to keep playing, but our patience is wearing thin.

We demand immediate, decisive, and visible action to purge CS2 of cheaters and suspicious bots. Ignoring this crisis will only accelerate the erosion of our community and the decline of the game.

Please show us you hear us and that saving CS2 is your top mission.

Messaggio originale di Play_More_KOF:
I can't speak for everyone, but for myself I put too much pressure on SNK to be better than the modern meta and, if anything, CotW's biggest crime is how safe they played it. Rev Blow is just stupid. You'll be playing an A rank with 2000+ points and their strategy is to Rev Blow 5 times in a row. And in their defense, the move is so good that it's not a terrible strategy. All told it's not a bad Fatal Fury either.

My problem is the game suffers from all the brain rot of modern fighters. So many instances reward gambling and undermine patient play. And in this era where the average player doesn't even bother to block, every exchange feels like the rock-paper-scissors trope that fighting game neutral was once mislabeled with. All characters have multiple self-described "neutral skip" moves so playing solid at mid-range just isn't going to happen. I mean, you'll be lucky if you can even get your opponent to stop jumping after the 7th anti-air in a row. If you get an opponent with a functioning frontal cortex, it can feel fun, but it requires both you and your opponent to simply not engage with the mild risk, high reward combat design.

For the casual player, this is probably fun. If you actually want to have a match you're going to be thinking about for hours after the set, like all the other crap out these days, it's not gonna happen with this. And with how restrictive Rev Cancels are, you don't really get an expressive combo engine either. It's very strict and your routes feel planned out for you. "But it's for balancing." Cool, tell that to Kain. lol.

I said it a few weeks ago, but modern fighting games are made for people that hate fighting games. And unfortunately CotW is no exception. If you liked SF6, I don't imagine these grievances will chaff you, but they left me raw and disappointed.
What are your fav fighting games?
