Is there more to it though? I've noticed my AM character and my Shinobushi, both using swords in the same coven, the AM character ends up getting counterattacked far more frequently. And the Shinobushi is usually the one to hit before her, so you'd think he'd draw more of the counterattacks.

Zombies do fine tanking single target enemies, but the enemies that do area damage crush them easily unless you far outpower the enemy.

This is one of the many complexities of the game, choosing what to buff.

Sounds like specifically a lack of information that allows players to make informed decisions. I did find the demo obtuse in this regard where it is unclear exactly how the attack/defense stats actually function.

Devs; just put a tutorial slide that explains the stats. There's no real reason to obfuscate that detail here.

So my advice for anyone playing this beta test is to look at the map when you start, and if there is a thick orange contour line between you and the weather station (either on the way down or the way back up), even if it look like there is breaks in it, start a new seed until you get one with the thick lines.

Atm, and especially after the hotfix it seems (although this could be my luck), getting stuck at the bottom of sheer cliff faces with no way around isn't much fun.

why would you not pick items? just play your games as usual, take sinkholes and when you happen upon them.. simply drop your items.

I don't understand how the vantage point piece is supposed to work. I placed one down that was next to both mountain and field pieces. The mountain pieces also had field pieces next to them yet no troops were made. What am I doing wrong?

I think it's case by case and if you get lucky by who looks at your ticket if it even gets to a real person.
I've never gotten anything back from any bug or crash. Let alone a response that wasn't some copy paste bs. But other friends I play with have had better luck with exact same issues. So I think it's just really inconsistent.
