This "base pinging" is just a user made house rule and nothing which is set in stone. You'll find players who respect it as well as players which don't. Don't get too upset about it, ping "your" base then watch what other players do. If you see a faster plane heading for it, switch target that is all you can do.

And if you detest these Wyverns, try to avoid it's BR bracket, yes this sounds easier than done I know.

filler serves an important purpose in ongoing narratives like this one because the devs can't just take a month off from making MOs to write the next one without a significant chunk of the portion of the playerbase that still needs medals pitching a fit.

the playerbase expects there to be an MO and so there will be an MO, but you can't put out a super important and impactful feeling MO once a week for what boils down to a lot of practicality concerns (no writing team is pulling that off consistently) and so we get filler while they plan out the more important MOs to come. if the filler MOs bother you just pretend there isn't an MO, just like how when anime releases filler arcs while waiting for the manga they are based on to put out more material a lot of fans just wait for the filler arc to end before tuning back in.

Backup your save. 100% do not launch an old save without backup unless you want to loose it almost certainly. If you are at 100% completion in your save, then you just need to wait until 6pm and go to sleep(recommend another backup before going to sleep). Then your game will save and update your savefile. You will get the cartel meetup and the final quest. Complete the quest and tell the cartel to piss off. Then you will need to wait 5 days to be able to buy the manor. This might be bugged. I recommend using forcesleep after the explosion and see if it works. If not, reload the backed up save and try again.

There is a patch that will work for this game to restore the original settings.

Besides the energy generation, Calm also interacts with some of your powers. You may get block if you end your turn in Calm for example, and/or if you switch stances, depending on the power.
