What can it possibly be? I don't understand how Reddit can track me.

I downloaded the Brave browser, something I've never used before in my life. I used a VPN. New browser + new IP address, and a new email address. I clicked on completely different/new subreddits, and I still got banned within about 4 hours of making the account. I just made it and didn't comment on anything, still got caught. Not sure how they can tell it's me with a new email, browser, and IP.

It is probably your IP address or your cookies. VPNs tend to get auto flagged, so you shouldn't create the account on a VPN. You should also use an incognito window/ Private browsing at all times for Reddit.

Basically my burner strategy involve creating the account on a public wifi. When I want to use it, I boot up a virtual machine on my PC and use it with a VPN. Haven't had issues when using that strategy.

Of course, this strategy is based on my GameFAQs burners. Although with GameFAQs, I take the additional step of letting the account sit for over 30 days. Mainly because they track all IPs used in the last 30 days and when an account is banned, the last 30 days IPs are flagged as bad for the purposes of account creation. They also don't allow account creation on VPNs, so it doesn't matter if the ban happens on a VPN IP.

I actually had a subscription to Surfshark but I can't for the life of me log into my account anymore, since moving to another country. Are there any free VPN's?

Also, it just occurred to me to use mobile data over a hotspot to actually create the account, to get around the VPN issue, and once the account is created and doesn't get autobanned, I could perhaps use a VPN or even Tor to access it. (Reddit doesn't let you make an account using Tor but you might be able to access an already created one with it).
