Tbh i never seen a good copy of DS games except lotf. LotF is the perfect COPY for DS.

The Surge 2 is alright. The first one has pretty rough gameplay though.

I don't know how it happens, but when I play a game, after couple of races when I roam around, it suddenly fades to black.

Я от удивления купил себе сразу два набора этой игры, для Steam и для GOG, чтобы максимально поддержать разработчика.
Интересно, к чему приведет развитие этого проекта, будет ли это песочница по типу GTA с автотранспортом и пешеходами в открытом мире, но естественно с приоритетом на клубничный 18+(21+) контент?
Будет ли в игре искусственный интеллект (оффлайн) у NPC?
Поживем - увидим.
Графика выглядит очень реалистично благодаря правильному освещению и теням и качественным 3D моделям. Разработчику респект и уважение!

The problem stems from the way Unreal Engine 5 handles .pak files for storing game assets. When a game uses large .pak files, even a tiny change can require the entire file to be repackaged and rewritten. Platforms like Steam can't just patch the changed parts, they have to repackage the entire updated .pak file, which results in massive file rewrites despite small download sizes.

Epic Games themselves recommend segmenting the game into smaller .pak files to avoid this. With proper segmentation, only the affected segments need to be updated and repackaged.

If I remember correctly, this game initially launched with a single monolithic .pak file and no segmentation at all. They may have attempted to implement segmentation later, but based on how poorly structured their weapon and attachment systems are, and considering the team's clear lack of game development experience, I think it's likely that their project is too disorganized to make segmentation effective.

Proper segmentation requires careful planning and logical asset grouping, which doesn’t seem to be happening here, considering that their hotfixes still have to rewrite the entire 100Gb of the game. Without a major refactor of their project, they're unlikely to fully benefit from .pak segmentation.

That and obviously the problem could be mitigated a lot if they used asset compression and did not have such a large file size in general.
