How beginner friendly is this game?

Not at all as someone who played a bit this week to see if I wanted to invest the time to learn the game.

I played nearly 900 hours of DOTA 2 (which is nothing compared to many) when I was in to it for context and this was only a few years ago so there were a lot of mechanics to learn. If you've previously played hero shooters and believe your aim skill can translate here you still have to learn the map, learn all the terminology, learn all the items and what they do (while they have very little visual indicator on the enemy unlike DOTA 2), learn all the heroes and their abilities, and understand several stats which are not explained anywhere in-game that I can find but are impacted by items.

It's a very steep hill to climb especially with such a low player count so you're going to be getting stomped hard by the long time players and likely flamed since it seems like Valve has no interest in improving how they handle toxic players (similar to their roll back on DOTA 2 behavior system which results in most of my matches being with terrible people even with a maxed out communication and behavior score). If you do play you're better off muting everyone as soon as the match starts.

Based on my experience learning DOTA 2 a few years ago I'd estimate this game would take me somewhere between 50-100 hours to be even decent at, and that's probably low since I don't really play or enjoy hero shooters so my aim isn't as good as it needs to be to excel.

At this time I don't think the game is worth the investment unless you really love hero shooters. I don't and just wanted to play a less toxic and sweaty DOTA 2 but with 6v6 and the current community size that's very unlikely.

its weakspot is the thin little beam that connects its leg to the groin. that thing still has ass loads of durbale hp and a fairly large hp pool tho so it still feels pretty bad to go for but that is the actual weakest part of the entire thing. good luck reliably lining that up tho.

Yeah you nailed it, thats the issue and I agree with most sentiments that every enemy needs weakspots.

Even Very heavy enemies, this might sounds crazy but hear me out, every enemy should be able to be killed with even the weakest of our weapons. Those weapons with light pen would need to hit designated weakspots with tons of HP but light armor. those same spots should be balanced so heavy At takes it out with 1-2 shots depending on the weapon. RR should be 1, Commando should be 2-3.

Tough enemies should create a skill check for players by having difficult weak-spot targets to hit, Not an obscene healthpool protected by heavy armor. It leads players to not bothering to even engage with them if theres too many, then were doing a running simulator and getting ragdolled while trying to create distance. (Thankfully the ragdolling helps with this from time to time, though I am not a huge fan of the rng that comes with the landings)

For bots, especially, they need to add weakspots like where a hydraulic piston meets with the frame of a leg, that should be a weakspot for every enemy, light pen can take it out, but its small, has a decent amount of health for light pen, and could be moving alot. THats a skill check as opposed to a gear check.

Thats a problem in this game if it becomes too common. The point should be to encourage using (or at least being able to) every weapon. I personally never ever take a light pen weapon due to too many targets being too heavily armored to engage with light pen. Again, it should not be that hard to create more vents or weak joints that are just extremely difficult to hit. Spongey enemies with massive health pools feel more like a slog as opposed to a fun engagement.

Meatbobs, fine, those SHOULD be bullet sponges and while its super difficult to shoot out all the heads, at least the option is there. Maybe it could have less heads that are somewhat immune to explosions (Just a little so some weapons dont 1-shot them) so we cna a little more quickly get them down with lightpen primaries. The enemy is designed with weakpoints, so players are never truly helpless unless theyre out of ammo or obscenely surrounded. From that perspective I feel like the moeatbob has at least that one good thing about it, being a heavy enemy that can be taken down with light pen, just have to be fast and accurate.

I run stalwart on lvl 10 bots and Have no issues, ultimatum, thermites, and 500kg is more then enough to handle war striders. neither my primary, or my support weapon can damage them and I STILL have no problems. I just dont understand your issue to be honest. its a fun enemy that requires you to bring weapons that can kill it.
