Magic all the way. With supporting mods and legendary difficulty.

I enjoy weaving spells in combat. Enemies have more health and more resistances through mods, I enjoy longer combat so I can cast a variety of spells to win my battles.

I hate spamming destruction spells, would rather weave spell sequences. My mod setup causes destruction spells to not do a lot of damage on their own. Instead I will need to weave the right spell sequence to weaken the enemy before casting any damage spell: For example: Weakness to Magic (Astral Spell Pack), Weakness to a given Element, then the damage spell.

A mage is as good as what he knows. Since I have played my mod setup, I know which enemies that can on shot me, so retreat and careful steps are necessary. Spell casters have access to the spells I have through SPID, except ones that can cause bugs.

No Follower. Preparing takes time. I enjoy doing the work to get my first staff, to buy the correct robes, to learn basic enchanting and alchemy and smiting for craft able magic items and robes. To learn a library of spells and any supported scroll crafting (not all spells can be scroll crafted). Once I am well stocked, I can then venture alone.

Conjuration is more of a crowd control. A mod applies the legendary damage dealt scaling to them as well. I enjoy crowd control towards victory. Avoiding damage, Stormgate (Forgotten Magic Spell Pack) to teleport and reposition in battle. Illusion to buy time and rebuff or regroup, or if i run out of resources, scrolls, potions, or staff charge, then switch to cantrips (aka Intuitive Magic from Ordinator)

All points to magicka, with Energy Shield (Ordinator) and other perks to buff health, can get around 100 points of health from two perks. This reminds me I am squishy and should plan ahead before leaving the safety of the college or my mage tower later on. I can craft my own scrolls with rare resources.

Simple Balance mod brings everything together. If I get too powerful later on, I then increase spell cost for example and add more strategy to combat. Makes the use of GodForm Spell more balanced, a spell from Enai mods.

I also enjoy the progression, all perk points to mage skills. Initially my summons are squishy but with Master of the Mind and other perks from illusion and conjuration, the become a formidable barrier allowing me to channel more powerful spells from safety.

Archers remain a challenge, but getting Mage ward from restoration allow me to raise a ward while casting any other spell. Initially, knowing your surroundings repositioning behind barriers is crucial while you prepare your next spell sequence, and target critical enemies, archers and spell casters. Root melee enemies (Natura Spell Pack), works on undead too, then go for the archers and spell caster. Bandits also have healers amongst them.

Later, Slow Time Shout or Slow Time Spell (Phendrix Spells), or Time Snap( Glamoril, cost 50% of your max magicka) is cucial at high levels to buff up, bring your summons to bear, reposition or temporary retreat.

All this spell switching are of course possible with Sky UI and you will need to spend time planning out your spells and know where they are to switch quickly as well know when to cast it at the right time. If a melee character is approaching you, you should know to quickly switch to Root Spell, remembering there is a delay in the cast time, remember that if you are not warded, Wildcat Mod, causes 50% more damage. so you will have to press the right button sequence to raise ward and cast root as soon as possible. And the enchanting effect that reduces damage from power attacks and bashed are life savers, as well as StormArmor (Forgotten Magic) that stuns and pushes an enemy away from you when they hit you with a power attack.

It is almost like D&D Wizard where you have limited spell slots and will need to plan what to have ready to cast without summoning your whole spell book (ie going into the spell menu).
