What was taken away?

The halfassed and terrible "pvp" that facilitated bullying and toxic behavior in a game that's majority PvE focused.

Except that the PvP is still actually there and nothing is stopping him from engaging in it.

Which means that he's upset that he can't blow away randoms who are just farming anymore. Boo hoo.

You're just talking like you have done something - show proof of the action taken.
I can say I have done all kinds of things and not show any proof - it's meaningless until it is proven.
Also, not to mention you are proven liars too - so it's necessary at this point for you to evidence your claims

The most simple fix for this is simply forcing the zombie "notice" animation when you open a door they arent already banging on. Its one thing if they instantly lunge because they're already aggressive, its another if they do it instantly on notice.

That extra second of grace period where the zombies turn their head towards a sound or something would give some serious breathing room.

if i recall, you need to use the machines to create components.
you can gather resources by hand, but its not designed that way and the game specifically tells you in the intro "that would be a waste of your potential"

but components, i dont recall an option to hand make them, you need to sue the machines. and you also need to use the machines to send commissions into space, to unlock more tech, and even if you could do that by hand, the volumes of materials you are looking at are astronomical.

Dawn of war was never about destroying bases, it wsa about conquest territory and hold it.
