Just finished 100%ing the game. Here's my feedback, though I'm leaving out things I know are coming in the next update (support for big rooms, Destined rework, unmovable rework).

As I mentioned in another thread, the game is sorely lacking for visibility and QoL features that aren't too bad early on but become bigger factors on higher challenge levels. All of these things desperately need attention:

Priests/Holy Book There are two unique face-cards for Priest, which is good, however the femme face is also used for non-priests, which can be confusing at a glance. A problem in both cases though is that since the on-map models are so small, and there's no indicator if Holy Book is off/on, combined with the movement lag (more on that below), it can be hard to know if they can be hurt. Visibility in the form of lighting up the icon, adding a radiant glow, or some other clear delineation would be nice.

No Build spots I believe I've heard something is going to be added to mark the unclear map boundries, and possibly to make Entrance Hall's road leadup more clear. All the same, with the blocked off spots on the map their should be something very obvious, like the spaces being marked in yellow in build mode to show you can't build there

Death/Crypt I didn't know how to trigger this until N10 when reading another thread. Either a tutorial popup in N1 or a more vibrant icon or a hover-over popup. Other room abilities are placed on the room, so this one not being on the room makes people trip up.

Room detection I often found in nightmare mode that trying to "feed" my curse card to a storage, altar, or sacrifice room would result in me playing the card, about 25% of the time. Likewise, trying to play traps into single-tile rooms often required multiple clicks.

Heart/Damage sound The same sound that is used to indicate the heart has taken damage is used sometimes to mark a round passing or the end of the day or seemingly random moments. The heart damage sound should be UNIQUE to the heart taking damage.

Mobility Lag Compel is one of the most powerful and necessary cards in the game, but very quickly the game reaches a point where it struggles to process it. Often, I would play compell and then need to wait 5 seconds or more for the animation to play and any triggers to go off. Occasionally, none would happen at all. Additionally, if any humans needed to move through a "weird" room, like a long hallway, sometimes the game would break and they'd just wander off somewhere. In general, playing fast (which happens as you grow comfortable with the game) results in the game struggling to keep up with your inputs, occasionally causing bugs.

Various simple options The game lacks a lot of things that would make runs more comfortable. The option to save a Day 1 layout in both regular and nightmare mode would be nice. A "Retry?" button on failure to allow another attempt at the same day. A "Retry from start" as well for nightmare mode so you don't have to go through the menus.

Clarity for unlocks/achievements I know a wiki is in the works. It would be nice if in game, the rooms/cards you hadn't unlocked had maybe a banner or lock over them that displayed what was needed to unlock them, so players aren't left guessing. Also, the descriptions of several Steam achievements are obtuse and unclear, and could use some cleaning up of the language.

Pistol is pointless This isn't visual/QoL but my last major critique is this. The first "advanced" enemy the player sees are cops, who always have guns. Guns open locked doors. There are a whole 2 cards in the game that lock doors. It makes the difficulty spike to Priests feel enormous. Cops should have some other trait, maybe Pistols deal 2 to the heart, or there should be way more cards/effects in the game that lock doors.

Pathfinder Another one about traits. Pathfinder is completely fine how it functions, however. It would be nice to have some clarity on how it picks outside rooms. Can I build a big hall-wall around the house to keep them out? Am I at risk more for certain rooms or locations? Is it completely random? Some sort of indicator or glossary index fully explaining how Pathfinder works would help people strategize for the biggest challenge in the game.

With all that said, there's a few other things that are more things I would have liked to have seen, but are much more challenging goals and have a lot more to do with the game itself. I would like to see a lot more prebuilt rooms, like the Belltower, Crypt, and mechanical room, rather than so many "upgradeable" rooms. I would like to see more incentive to make your house look like a house instead of a spiral of closets. I'd like to see more use for essence. Yeah I know it's already our currency for building, rerolling, and upgrading rooms, but even so I find in almost every mode it ceases to have value beyond getting more rerolls after time. Perhaps it could be used to lock doors, or the option to spend it on more things could be around. I wish the colored Legendary rooms had actual room names and were more distinct, though I understand this makes it easy to see them "grouped". Maybe making up some funny evil gods for them to be referencing, and change the statue slightly for each? In general, more rooms and more interesting rooms would be nice. Coming from Blue Prince to this felt like a massive drop in creativity on the house-building side. And finally, I think there's too much "chaff" in the draft pool. To many cards just aren't good and you'd rather be running a very thin deck looping a few consistent powerful cards like Phone, Compel, Traps, and Stuns.

Overall, I liked the game pretty well, and I'll be playing the update early next month, but I think it needs a lot more ironing out, and doesn't fully sell the fantasy of being a haunted house right now when I usually feel like a long, random hallway. A QoL patch would go a long way to making the experience more accessible.

I agree we can make some changes in some aspects:
  • I'm going to check if I can add some radiant glow to priests (for this update)
  • Also going to see if we can add the pathfinder to the Glossary (for this update)
  • Crypt/Reaper tutorial card, going to check that as well (for this update)
For a future update (post content drop) we'll see to get these in:
  • Check in the collection on the cards, how you can unlock them
  • Teleport humans to the correct room if they start wandering after X-seconds
  • Maybe a retry from start button. A retry from Day defeats the Roguelite aspect a bit 😄
