Yeah, I played a few more hours of a new game but meh --- I will be joining the "rollback to Circinus Club". The 4.0 rendition is a bit overly abstract and confining for my preferences in regards to managing certain aspects of the simulation - the devs intentionally hobbling that core mechanism is annoying to me.. Instead of fixing core issues they just essentially cut/minimize content.

Honestly understandable, though personally I prefer the new system.

I find it makes resource worlds more versatile & viable since there's urban designations to complement resource gain. Similarly, there's resource specialisations that complement tech worlds. It also provides an upper limit on planet productivity if you can utilise all 20 building slots, such as on ecu/hive worlds, and the cost for building slots is drastically reduced, from 1 district per building slot to 1 district per 3 building slots. Further, the introduction of automation buildings makes low-pop strategies vastly more effective, and is generally useful besides.
I used to hate building city districts because they seemed to provide absolutely no value - I'd find ways to get more building slots without them. Think about it, really: if you were building that city district to get a lab, then why not just get the lab bundled into the city district as in 4.X? The change essentially merged city & industrial districts so now they don't feel so wasteful.

There's plenty wrong with it, and with 4.X, but I don't want to go back.

You walk, and the grass shadows ahead of you flicker as hell...it's totally distracting, and kills the immersion, of the otherwise nice look of the epic settings GI.

I so run GI on medium, as it makes almost no difference to high...and doesn't have grass / foliage shadowing. It must be a UE5 issue...because STALKER 2 had the same problem.

Any solution on this? I'm on RTX 4080, with DLSS enabled...but makes no difference. No matter what DLSS, transformer model, without DLSS, with and without FG - always the same. You could solve it in STALKER 2 by engine.ini tweaks...but that caused other visual downgrades.

You can dance with Shai Hulud all you want. Gotta be careful though he likes to step on toes.
