Okay, so. I hate this stuff as much as the next guy but I will say to what minimal credit they deserve, Eternal is not always-online and even the new launcher doesn't seem to have changed that. It looks always-online because it tries to force you to create a Bethesda.net account to play, up until you play in offline mode or just with your ethernet yanked out upon which it gives up and just lets you in sans account. Which is... intrusive design, but at least the workaround exists, and the new launcher operates on basically the same logic.

That being said, it's a garbage launcher and it being completely forced on everyone is just the pits. One, as has been said, the "skip the launcher" checkbox is a lie and all it does is launch the game once the launcher's launched. Two, it breaks most versions of Proton. Extremely frustrating and I don't even know how they managed that. Three, the game will no longer run without the launcher; you can normally forcibly redirect Steam to launch a different executable than the default, but the main executable no longer works if the launcher isn't up and running (it also crashes out if the launcher is closed by any means).

And third and perhaps the worst side effect of this is that you can no longer use the CLI launch options: "+com_skipIntroVideo 1" to bypass the 20 additional unnecessary seconds of logos and disclaimers before being let into the game proper, or more critically, "+set m_smooth 0" to ACTUALLY DISABLE THE GODFORSAKEN MOUSE SMOOTHING. Because those launch options are being applied to the initial executable Steam is targeting, which is now the launcher rather than the game itself, and the launcher offers no passthrough for this.

In a game that demands such hair-trigger precision, mouse smoothing is a death knell for me and now there's no way to get rid of it.

So, can anyone tell me what happens to the mods that have been reported? As far as I know, several well-known mods for Terraria and CS2 have been reported. Is Valve just going to stand by and do nothing?

Usually I work a job and have the buisness run on the side, at start I sometimes use some time to fill some odd hours in the buisness.
That said, its mostly because a lot of the starter buisnesses have mostly cheap jobs and since your "earning" from working in your own buisness is basically just the wages you save by doing it yourself, so having a high-paid job and just paying people to do the work in the buisness is more profitable.
Ofc you could aim to open a buisness with a better paying job and train family members for especially that job, wich might make it more profitable.

That said the limit to 4 is abysmal (initially there was no limit).

You can focus on progress in your skill. Making harder difficulties, mastering different weapons and playstyles. Finishing maps with lower damage taken possible. Understanding game system, roles and threats on battlefield for converting your builds and playstyle into something specialyzed of versitile depends on what your or random group needs.

And later there are at least 2 events, invasion on your main planet and an attack on a freighter where you were kind of waiting for an attack at that time. For this events remember that you can travel anywhere right away creating a new starline between any locations. And if you think that costs too much navigators knowledge, a) it's worth it and b) for your official rogue trader festivities where you can choose 2 companions to accompany you, select the navigator which kind of makes this problem go away.
