New players understand this better than long-time players, though. They want to learn and improve, and they can explain the 50% matchmaking to you very easily. If you win, the game gets harder - but if you don't improve, you lose again. Let's say you play 100 games by the end of the month and win them all. Then you'll play in a different league that's much harder and completely different. That means it's not impossible that you only won the last few by luck, but you'll then lose 100 games again. I saw this happen to a streamer myself once. He went from archon to ancient in no time, he was almost divine. How did he do it? He spammed sandking with bloodstone when he was meta and only won. But he didn't understand the game any better; the learning curve wasn't long enough for that. Now he's archon again. Sandking wasn't as broken anymore. And btw, he was a she.
As you said, they're new to Dota through their exposure to esports, tournaments, and their idolized players. This often means that after just a few games, they're already better than people with 1,000 games. This is partly where the smurf myth comes from, but don't worry, they'll climb to the top. There are certainly exceptions, but these are usually the players who quickly lose interest or only play for a few hours a week.

I never had someone explain to me that I'm a total noob in such an intelligent and understandable way. Thank you bro :)
Let them have it, I don't have time for dota anymore anyway.
