I just started playing it and I am a solo player. It depends on your skill and how well you can handle getting swarmed and staying cool under pressure. There is a dodge and parry, I generally dodge when I am facing swarms of bugs, and I parry when I am facing singular enemies. If you can get the parry down, then singular bugs won't be much of a threat. If you get the dodge down, then you need to be strategic while fighting swarms, but it's very doable. I find the game challenging, but not really extremely difficult. Just carry healing items at all times, get used to the combat mechanics, and don't take on more than you can chew. It's okay to run if you need to.

Well I am not usually great at parrying, I tend to get the timing wrong. I have been considering this game for a while but was wary as to the difficulty of playing solo. Your comments makes sense of course, and are helpful, thanks..

Venting bc I got a matchmaking ban for leaving my second toxic match in a row - first one was sfw (i assume) of two survivors helping the killer by using gestures to lead them to gens and other survivors while those two survivors didnt have any cage states at all, and the second the killers were going around slugging everyone and leaving them. But the devs expect me to just deal with it, God forbid if I leave so I can enjoy my free time with dignity, *I* get the match making ban, meanwhile the misbehaving ppl go on to finish their match and go play another ones. Toxic behavior is rewarded with further play, people who want a higher standard are the ones who get penalized. That would be a comically insane approach anywhere - in a workplace, in any organization or community - but not DBD. So I'm going to vent about it.

I have never loved, but mostly outright hated, a game more in my life. I've never ever played a game where I can stomach it for a week but then I have to distance myself as far from it as possible after. This game is honestly bad enough playing as killer, but its the worst experience playing as survivor. Its just awful. Killers will tunnel and slug and camp and the devs nor anybody else gives a damn. people cheat and play toxically with impunity (given the culture of cheaters and such in this game that never ends). People tea bag at the gates with impunity. But if *i* go next because killers are just slugging and im spending my free time on the ground doing nothing or on hooks/in cages, or trying to get away from cheating players, I get a match making ban. The devs pamper the killers by giving them an opportunity to ALWAYS be engaged and to get to actually have fun from match to match, but they expect survivors to just exist for the amusement of toxic killers or cheating survivors. And if they refuse to and move on to something better - they are penalized.

I'd like to know why they think they're justified by forcing people to stay in toxic matches. Where do they get the notion from that their game, community, anti-cheat systems are SO GOOD, that they can force people to play in toxic matches with unbalanced mechanics and sweaty rigid meta objectives?

Its a terrible value proposition to play survivor in this game. Its 80% a waste of your time and your sanity, and 20% fun. No wonder everyone wants to play killer and I never see s BP bonus to play killer. its the same stale game play loop around the same stale sweaty objectives with the same stale toxicity.

"Skill issue, stop whining, blah blah blah" - maybe. I have a minor retinal condition that makes the game harder for me. But that aside, this game is just the least like a game of any game I have ever played. The devs seem to actively enjoy making it a wreck given their track record, and that the community is straight up unmitigatingly toxic.

Maybe this is a sign that I have outgrown games, or maybe just this one. Either way, im going to try ONE more game and I stg if I encounter another toxic match for the 90 minutes or so that I have to play it today... I will forever be on a matchmaking penalty because I will go next and uninstall it and never look back and never click play again.

Everything you described is literally a legit part of the game.
The only actually toxic thing here is you ragequitting matches on repeat and leaving your team at a massive disadvantage. You’re not some victim, you’re just throwing your squad under the bus.

Y, maybe at that point it’s time to take a break.

If you think that cheating and helping the killer and toxic gameplay are legit parts of the game, then this is a game for sociopaths and I should take a permanent break. I dont understand how you could reasonably defend that

Another topic about Estelle. Looks like the current generation never really experienced long term storytelling, always wanting instant gratification. There are reasons why old coming of age works like Anne Shirley is huge in pop culture, or why characters like Estelle is beloved.

This sucks - Ive been patiently waiting for months since the 'release' of the game for it to actually be finished... I know they are a small team and all of that but i wish devs would not 'release' unfinished games...

If they knew they needed another 12 months in early access then just do it... Dont pretend the game is done, release it then say oh yeah we are still working on major aspects of it...
