This is just risk mitigation from Cygames, why release in a market that is at risk? The lootbox law in NL is still fairly fresh and could be amended/worsen in the coming years, it's another of layer of legal framework Cygames doesn't want to deal with for a tertiary market. You would be France or Germany they would care since revenues in these countries are high, but NL? Not worth the hassle.

Sorry but when you see these headlines, it doesn't gives confidence to release such a game in NL: https://igamingexpress.com/dutch-minister-calls-for-eu-wide-ban-on-loot-boxes-in-video-games/

This was early 2024, likely when Cygames was spec'ing for the global release, it's the kind of news that triggers Legal dept. Keep in mind that in large companies like Cygames, Legal dept are extremely risk averse, they would rather lose few millions in revenues and take no risk than launching in a country and then having to refund customers because the game is outlawed. Or even worse, being highlighted by some politician, generating bad PR.

It only takes ONE politician that knows nothing about a topic to just say "look at this horse gambling simulator with anime girl!". No brand wants to be associated with that risk, Cygames doesn't want their name or the name of their product in the same headline as "gambling". It does not matter if it's gambling or not, or if it's legal or not. Reputation/PR has never been about the truth/reality, it's all about perception.

The same was we had politician back then in Germany launching a crusade again Counter Strike, calling for a ban saying it turned children into monsters. Don't think Valve was too happy about their name associated with the bad PR, luckily for them it was before the Steam era.

You don't have to do anything to travel and explore. At the most it may be wise to get some sandals for the extra movement speed. Then just RUN everywhere. Don't fight everything in your way, run, travel, explore, pick and choose your fights wisely. Eventually you'll become a literal god of death, but that's when things start to get boring as there's no longer any challenge, the early game when there's a lot of pressure and survivability isn't certain is where the real fun is.

The 2 most broken skills in the game are athletics (movement speed) and sneak. Either one of those at a sufficient skill makes the game easy.

Stop trying to grind combat skills and just play the game. If you lose a few people here and there then so what, that's part of the game. Eventually you'll learn when it's a good idea to fight, and when you should break off and just run for it.

At times (like when starting out) having more people isn't worth the hassle, because the newer recruits will have slower movement speeds, not to mention you'll need more food. Better to get a small group of veterans, then split them up and add new recruits into the mix once you've gotten decently established.

I typically do the lone wanderer start and stay solo for quite a while before picking up any randoms. Sometimes the game doesn't last long (my record is dying in just under 3 minutes), then there's games like the one I've had going since 2016... every single character I have in that game can solo entire cities, even my workers because they get tons of combat due to building cities in the middle of the foglands and similar areas. That game has basically turned into a city building sim because there's no real challenge left.
