I've tried picking up NMS several times because I am always in shock and awe over the new update trailers and they add so many new cool things to this game that I would like to experience.

However, I always find myself building the first base, getting to a space station, going back to base building and then not really sure where to go from there? Do I just keep progressing the missions or what is the main point of this game?

I know it's very vague to ask but I'm just curious like, I know base building is ONE thing to do, but surely there's got to be more to it right? How do I for instance, earn currency to buy upgrades, how do I build my own space ship, how do I go explore abandoned space stations, that kind of stuff? Any pointers?

One thing that helped me years ago when I first started playing: Read the wiki! The players that kept this game alive during those dark early years are very helpful!

I have been using Mint on my laptops over a decade. Pretty close to 2 decades. I haven't had to use a terminal command in more than 10 years.

I had to cause I couldn't get 2 vital pieces of software to run on it and still wouldn't run after days of trying to get it to run.

However, most of what people use these days is done via webbrowsers, and that runs just as easily on Linux as Windows. The only sticking point was gaming, but Proton has changed that up too.

There are a few niche programs that don't work with Linux, but there are also plenty of alternatives. Like I couldn't get Clip Studio Paint to work on Linux, but Krita is a competent alternative.

You could be last in the queue and still get in within 10 mins of servers starting, like all previous releases its not really an issue. The game usually downloads for everyone prior to server start. I get it though, you paid so want a priority.
