the game definitely needs a lot of addressing and changing/fixing. and if they refuse to fix/change things, then they need to fix/change things anyway.

like another poster wrote, you NEED to be able to sprint in all directions. you block 3 attacks, and your shield breaks. once your shield breaks, you have 3 options:
1) run away if you can
2) pray to god demons wont attack/kill you before you get your shield back
3) melee attack
the problems are just that if you run away, you may be killed as doomguy cannot outrun the demons. he can in d2016 and eternal just not in TDA. and the only melee that would allow you to make it out alive is the dreadmace which you first get late into the game. that means you pretty much just have to pray you dont die on the spot. in other words, there's NOTHING you can do. if your shield breaks, you're dead. i downloaded kaibz's Advanced Options mod and bumped the walk speed to 1.55 which is almost the same as the sprint speed at 1.57 (relative to the walk speed number) and my god, it just fixes so many issues with movement. you can actually dodge ALL projectiles if you're good enough at moving. you can avoid being forced into a corner and losing your shield and die. the game just feels better, its more fluid and smooth. it just plays better!

there're 5 mid-long ranged rapid fire guns that more or less do the same. but still some of them are better than others. shredder with ricochet replaces pulverizer. accelerator replaces ravager. cycler is the longest range option so it cant be replaced. i actually think the way TDA handles guns is better than d2016 and eternal. instead of having a gun with a (useless) primary fire and 2 secondary fires, you just have a gun with 2 primary fires to choose between, and each primary fire has its use. theoretically anyway, the shredder and impaler are good examples of how the guns should've been handled. the 2 primary fires should do something different.

melee attacks dont give i-frames when you press the button. if id refuses to add sprint in all directions, this would be the only way to get out of being cornered+losing shield. stunning demons with melee so you can get out. the worst part is that when you use the flail, which is supposed to be the armor acquisition melee, you'll find a bunch of soldiers grouped up, attack them, and JUST as you gain all that armor, you lose it in an instant because the projectile the soldier fired BEFORE they died hit you RIGHT AS/AFTER you get all your new armor. like there's no reason for me to use the flail in this situation, which i should be able to do. it's the same when you're against bigger demons. you just lose all armor and hp immediately. glory kills also don't seem to have i-frames after the animations finish. and to that, all i have to say is i'm almost speechless really. the reason you, id software, added glory kill i-frames to eternal is because players kept dying when they glory killed in d2016. so when you made TDA, you... removed the glory kill i-frames? you guys are aware why you added them in eternal, right? it's because people kept dying in d2016 when they tried glory killing. how did this happen?

and lastly (there're probably more things i just cant think of them rn), the shield interaction cooldowns... they need to go. you need to be able to block literally whenever. it doesnt matter what action you're doing, you need to be able to cancel it with blocking/parrying. the biggest offender at the moment is the double barrel. when you shoot it, you cannot block/parry while reloading. did you, id software, never use the double barrel while playing? did you never use it against the Aggadon? did you never use it against the cyberdemon? how did this make its way into the final product? anyway, when i say the shield interaction cooldowns need to go, i mean literally all of them. that means you should be able to literally spam M2 when trying to parry. if you're cornered, you will just die because of the parry cooldown.
