Frozenbyte has less than 100 employees. We can deduce from that that 1 % of all the income we get is not enough to hire one person full-time. Also, large part of the income comes with strings attached, e.g. as payments for developing something else than Starbase. We can't just funnel that money somewhere else.

Any programmer that hops into Stabase and gets enough fixes in to draw a crowd again will get 5% of all profits from this point to the day the game dies...again.

That would mean we could at most afford 20 such fixes. At that point 100 % of Starbase profits are going to those 20 programmers (we obviously don't have that many, but let's say each one can make several fixes to gain the percentage multiple times) that did one fix each. The game is going to die very quickly after that and none of the programmers have earned anything like sensible compensation for their work.

Any smart programmer would jump on that and dedicate every waking moment to making the game amazing and keeping it there until they retire.

As a smart programmer, I'm able to calculate expected profits for "easy fixes". I also have some visibility to Starbase's finances. I deduce that there will likely not be any profits, even if those fixes do generate some sales.

The kind of fixes that could generate meaningful amount of sales aren't easy and definitely not something that can be done quickly, after actually having worked to earn one's wage.

The only creativity we have seen is the ability to weave excuses for not doing anything.

Stating the facts after the crap has hit the fan is not weaving excuses. Errors were made, and getting into what ifs about them is not going to help. We are where we are.

If all you want is an update, I could roll one out tomorrow, or even tonight. It wouldn't actually have any fixes, but would have higher build number. If you insist, I can probably find some typo to fix in localizations, and then there would a changelog to go with the update. But that's not what anyone really wants.
