Like u said, we think Kris is going to be a blank slate where we can put our thoughts and identity onto the character. Only to find out they actually have their own identity, wants and they also hate u. Susie is the main character rather then Kris as she is the one going though major character development as her entire character is ‘breaking’ things in a literal and game logic way, she will also be the one to break the prophecy. Susie is meant to be the tank and damager of an rpg but she will probably become the healer. Ralsei was always going to be the tutorial character, always agreeing with u and never moving on that support status, he was never meant to take off the hat. I think will learn how to fight in chp5 and will be a heavy damage dealer. Theres a lot more but basically toby fox is fiddling with every single game trope and mechanic within his game. In snowgrave you enforce these tropes. You’ve got Kris the hero character and Noelle the supportive girl character whos also ur childhood friend. In those games and they fall in love and in deltarune you force a ‘marriage’ between them.

In a way, I think the game could be interpreted as very political if u wanted (or could be????????). Having a queer identity is breaking breaking the ‘established’ rules of life. U as the angel (the god) r enforcing ur will into the the world of deltarune and can either choose to embrace the complexities of the characters or ‘enforce the rules.’ Just like in the real world, god has a ‘correct’ way of life and you will face punishment if u disobey that.

U try to enforce Kris an identity bc they are the messenger of ur will, it’s the only way for u to communicate to the world. U r god and god is a man, thus Kris is a guy. Kris also takes the masculine role as they r the hero (typically a boy). But to u the player, they take a more masculine role as they wear masculine clothes, and do more masculine stuff like play pranks on people rather than be kind like a girl should (like Noelle). Snowgrave u r essentially forcing two queer teenagers into a hetronormative marriage.

Deltarunes religion is without rules or sins yet u create the rules and sins by following the rules of the game. I don’t really think toby fox is thinking this deep into the queer themes but I do think queer themes r there, themes of freedom and control r directly correlated with being queer. games have their own level of interpretation.
i'd delete that if i were you, the kris pronoun cult may attack you for daring to say such things
They are quite literally saying that Kris is enby but people are enforcing cisgenderness onto them
