Zomboid interaction with doors
Zojuist
Khody
The idea is as follows regarding additional interactions between the zomboids, us, and the doors.

It came to me after I recently tried Resident Evil 2 for the first time.
I saw zombies pounding on doors and violently bursting through them to continue their macabre pursuit into the next room.

So, let me know what you think.

The idea would be for the Zomboids to behave similarly. As usual, they'd come knocking at doors, but here we’d introduce two types of interactions:

If the door is unlocked, they would slam against it until it swings open, followed by a distinctive loud bang sound of the door being thrown open violently.
With multiple zombies, it wouldn’t take long. If there’s only one, it would take a few seconds.
There could also be a chance that once the door is forced open, the zombies stumble and fall as they enter, getting up quickly before continuing their pursuit.

If the door is locked, then they’d have to break it down the usual way to get through.

Creating some really intense moments—especially inside large buildings or infested hallways.

>>> I know there’s a sandbox option that allows zombies to simply open doors in a sudden and natural way, but to me that feels less immersive and less engaging. <<<

There could also be additional features, such as placing a chair against a door to block it from being opened from the other side.
Zomboids would still slam against the door, but a distinct sound of the door hitting the chair could be heard.
This would either delay the time before the door gives way or force the chair to break at the end of the interaction, leaving splintered wood and chair legs on the floor.

This would give more strategic depth to padlocks, keys, the decision to fully barricade a door, etc.
It would be incredible to see zombies busting down doors, the first ones tumbling forward, and the rest flooding into the building behind them.

But first, tell me what you think of the idea.
