One suggestion I have is making the attack area more viewable. The red diagonal lines representing the area to be attacked blend in with the ground and are extremely hard to see. Really it should be a different color to make this more visible!

You absolutely are penalized.

The Race Style affinity is a bonus or penalty to your WIT skill. Running A is baseline, S gives like a 10% bonus to WIT, lower gives various penalties from -15% to -90% at G.

This makes your racer a dumbass in the race, so they can't reliably activate skills and have trouble passing and have no clue when to do their last spurt.

Except it is widely believed that this penalty to wit isn't impacting skill activation chances.

As to the rest of what you say, well, it's a pretty common practice for people to swap their medium focused umas to late surger for those mid-career long races they always seem to have, at a time when you lack the stam and/or skills for it. And, despite being way in the back, in the pack, they'll typically get 2nd place that way (for ones that can get 1rst for medium ones, of course).

Short of it, the penalty for using the wrong style is insignificant. Especially if compared to, say, running the wrong terrain type for your uma.

I mean, there is the auto reapply upgrades checkbox so you would only have to do any manual clicks if you either get new rank points or want to change your focus with that crew member.
