Well, vampires would probably have a focus on bleed effects, which you don't normally see much of in Shadow, but yeah, still pretty redundant with wightborn. If you want 'classic' monster types with actually distinctive mechanics, I'd go with lycanthropy, shapeshifting isn't something the game has done much with, and we're also missing an Animal major transformation.

Thanks. Lol. A bit of a necro, but I really wanted to say that. Cuz I just had a similar problem as OP (and other threads) where I would just suddenly fall over, in higher level 1999 missions. And yes, I was using a frame that survived by shields and occasionally shield gating (protea), and shields would be intact when I'd get 1 shotted (or dead in under half a second anyway). Several people mentioned toxin procs, and it kinda made sense, but some people vehemently said no.

Tried that deathlog, and sure enough "Techrot Galliflex using a ToxinEximusFumesDamageTrigger". They basically spawned on me in a tunnel, and didn't feel very avoidable. I gotta get toxin/status immunity like wyrm or overguard or something, or can't use Protea in some content anymore. Really feels like overguard is the direction the game is heading.

As for your desire to make an ideal mercenary, it doesn't depend on you. It's one of the rules of the game. You can pump up a mercenary as much as you want, but the game can reward him with a negative trait. It happened to me like that - a mercenary with 15 willpower, for no reason at all, received a "depressive" penalty. No problem - I pumped him up into a scientist or a musician.
