As said, D1 City is just to pilfer corpses and route through non-Formidable Field Bosses and special enemies fought along the path to hope that any of those at all can drop Marais or Grafted -- which is still just so luck-based. Many people even skip breaking boxes if they pass by a Flask Church or anything else for a chance at getting Silver Fowled Feet, as well as even killing that Scarab just inside of the City itself, in case it might drop a Silver Scarab Talisman -- essentially griefing the whole tedious meta strategy that people tend to force upon other strangers.

You can get 40k Runes just from two enemies alone, and while that is good, you either need ranged sources, or to carry offensive Consumables to deal Damage to them with after getting close enough to them (the right-side Malformed Star is close to the broken bridge that has corpses which are hard-coded to drop Magic Pots to damage it enough with so that it retreats and gives you one 20k stack). Even with this in mind, people who boast the high Level returns of this strategy seem to disregard the fact that you can easily accomplish the same just by doing... things outside of Noklateo, without even needing the Castle that is missing for this Shifting Earth layout.

And then you have to go there on Day II anyway, because the circles are hard-coded to be in the exact-same spots every single time, no matter what, so...

... Yeah, just do it on Day II. Even the one, undisputable fact that you can get Marais or Grafted doing D1 Noklateo so you can then farm, can be negated by the sheer counter-fact of... it's still luck-based. You don't bank your whole run on any one of two items and try to forcefully drag up to two other people, then act cross because you weren't listened to (and for good reason).

Be reasonable.

Even the Evergaol meta isn't as asinine, despite there being L1 Gaol rushers who skip everything inbetween, just like the old Flask Church rushers used to do because YouTubers at the start were like "SECRET OP STRAT TO CHEESE THE GAME!" *shows images of churches* *blurs some random text or cropped-out image* *random arrow pointing to nowhere* *everything is in all caps*

You can't get the loot that you get inside city by doing lesser bosses outside of city. You grt blues and occasionally a purple. City guarantees at least one purple and a stack of other useful passives all compacted in 1 location. It's not about Marias or grafted, that's just a bonus of you happen to hit Lucky. The point is not running half way across a map killing lesser bosses and doing camps in hopes of getting something that can give you half of the benefit that city does.
If you're needing more than 5 flasks for a nightlord there's a certain skill issue there. You should be able to survive day one on 3 flasks. When the circle closes it always pushes you in the direction of a church, either north east or north west.

Nobody drags anybody anywhere, it's a group decision to go into city day 1, by way of everybody in the party. It's not like players are forcefully teleported in to city. It's a by now widely used strategy amongst the community. It's only the minority that don't want to do it. Try running city shifted earth and watch people immediately ping it.

I don't know how you come to the conclusion that not killing a scarab is griefing the expedition, but we get it, you don't like the strategy. But it has become the meta, on 3 out of 4 shifting earth's. There's no point in doing a camp then a gaol, then a grand church then a hippo and maybe a flower and a misbegotten for blue loot when the good stuff is right there a few feet away and in a lot of cases closer than all those other bosses.

I find it rather silly of people to be naysayers when it's a by now well prove strategy that works and pays off.

I’ve racked up 600+ hours.

Cleared Haga Basin, did the story, advanced trainers, side missions.

Played the market, got filthy rich.

Solo’d my way to T6.

Set up a Deep Desert arena where people duel for fun.

Got stomped in PvP, stomped others back, everyone laughed, no salt.

Met cool folks, joined a big guild (including people I fought in labs countless times).

Now we run spice, tweak our high-level skill trees, build bases, and keep things lively.

Not once have I died to a bug. Not once has my entire existence been wiped. Somehow, against all odds, I’m… having fun.

So I ask again… what am I doing wrong?

Are there any plans to make an "unleveled world" option for the adventure 2 gametype? (where the game generates the first time it sets the level of that location and it stays that static level for the entire save) Idk if thats alot to ask but i think that would be perfect for this kind of game.

Yes. The "unleveled world" option is in our plans. It requires the implementation of multiple continents first.
