I have never enjoyed clown, and I am also new to the game, I am noticing it is IMPOSSIBLE for survivors to win against clown with haste. I am not even bringing any haste perks, just clown alone right now is unbeatable, his haste bottles need to be reverted.

(This is coming from the killer btw, not made cuz I lost, made cuz I won too easily over, and over, and over again)

Whoa, that's a bold lie. SA changes the entire tech tree and game mechanics from an adult focused logic puzzle into a toddlers color matching toy. The entire game is replaced with a grind, absent and devoid of all challenge, the only pursuit being the ability to see the sprites change colors.

Take your cliff explosives example. What was once a low level item that gave an early game boost has now been moved to late game. Why? To artificially replace the missing difficulty from all the other watered down mechanics.

Not happening.

Installed, launched. The game stops on the loading screen. The process in the task manager does not hang, in MSI Afterburner I see a serious load on the video card. Hey, sorry to be a bother, I just did an F8 submission with save game attached, but for some reason all neutral objects have become friendly to me on this current play through. As a result I can't shoot derelicts with my plasma turrets in order to salvage them. 😭

Is this a corruption of the save file somehow?

I wanted to share some honest, constructive feedback about the bot behavior changes introduced in the Last Stand Update, mostly struggled with it for 4 years.

Before I get into it, I truly appreciate the passion and work the community team put into reviving Left 4 Dead 2. It’s amazing to see this game still alive and receiving love after so many years, despite this discussion thread remaining mostly empty.

That said, one of the changes that has really impacted my experience majorly is the way bots behave in the post-TLS version of the game. The bots are now extremely aggressive, shooting common infected the moment they appear, stealing melee kills, wiping out specials before I can even engage them, and while I understand this was likely intended to improve co-op, Expert Realism, and Versus viability, it’s become overwhelming in solo or casual play.

Before TLS, the bots were supportive, they followed the player’s lead, reacted to danger when needed, and let players take initiative. That pacing and balance alone made the game feel immersive, tactical, and satisfying. Now, it often feels like I’m rushing to compete with my own team just to get a shot in.

I’ve tried working around this with mods, scripts, EMS systems, and custom settings, but nothing brings back the feel of the pre-TLS bots. I’d really love it if there was a simple toggle or option to revert to the original bot behavior:

A console command, or a setting in settings.txt, or even a “Classic Bot AI” checkbox in the settings menu would be great.

I believe this would help both new and returning players tailor the experience to their preference, without impacting anyone who enjoys the current setup.

Thanks again for the hard work. I really hope this feedback is helpful and reaches to you someday, and I’d love to see more support for players who enjoy the original pacing and feel of the game.

This is coming from a long-time L4D2 player with 1,6k hours who just wants the bots to have my back and in general not take all the action. Thank you!
