I try to open it, and the screen goes black as if it's about to start, but then it closes and goes back to the Steam homepage. How can I fix this?

Report the Bug to LOTRO SUPPORT and Search their Main Site Forums to see if there is a fix.
And/Or, REVERIFY your STEAM FILES of LOTRO, to try the STEAM Fix.
But then too, I left STEAM's Version last March 2025, and have had no problems since.

Why I left? Because I found STEAM caused a lot of problems when I was playing LOTRO from Steam. Until I deleted their version of it and started using the Main LOTRO game I'd played for 15 years, and haven't had a problem since.

You say the problem is steam? hmmm

Probably. My guess is because it has to use EA App/launcher to open the game, so having family share is pointless because your EA account needs it too.

Ah, the good old "90% agree with me" strategy, with literally no possible way for that statistic to be determined. My recommendation, stop trying to speak for "90% of people", just speak for yourself and your opinions. Your post would be much more worthwhile then.

It's pretty obvious how the Empire in Warhammer is derived from the HRE. Most empire units look like they're directly from a reenactment of the 30 years war, all the towns have german names, the country is split into semi-independent polities run by elector counts (pretty much 1:1 derived from how the elective monarchy in the HRE worked), the emperor could only be more blatantly obvious if the named him Karl Franz von Habsburg. I could go on.

Given that everyone in the Empire has a UK accent of some stripe, and they make a point of having a petty national rivalry with France, and they're an expansionist power that relies on guns and cannonades to succeed?

I always just interpreted the Germanic stuff as a nod to the point in British history when scandi-wegians married into the royal family.

The game is made by a UK based studio, so it shouldn't be surprising that most of the VA cast are from the UK.

You have failed to show in either steams subscriber or end user licence agreement where the violation has occurred he asked for a simple direct quote. The steam EULA directly applies to the user (I.e Individuals are liable for their personal conduct online.)
