I just started playing through the tutorial levels. I have a few critiques right off the bat.
The menus seem pretty unintuitive.

But what I really don't like already is the melee and ranged symbols are really hard to distinguish without looking closely. The devs REALLY need to make a sharper contrast between the two symbols. Frankly, they need to sharpen up ALL of the iconography.

So, recently whenever I load in, none of my view-models are there, none of my weapons are in my inventory, and i cant equip any items either. All I can do is wander around and spawn stuff, and when I go into third person, I'm that black and white low-poly Gordon model that doesn't have any animations.

The last time I played the game this wasn't happening, and I didn't change subscribe to anything new, or unsubscribe from anything. I've scanned through my subscriptions, removed stuff, re-added stuff, uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Even cleaned the game files out and subscribed to everything again.

I can't figure out what is causing this and I have no idea how to fix it. Can anyone help? I've never had this happen before and I can't find anything about it when I search on the internet.

QUESTION: Can anyone confirm what the unlock condition for Image #76 is in the Fighting Ground - Character section of the gallery (it's titled Special Artwork: Masami Obari, and it depicts Terry and Mai)? I had it unlocked by default, and a Steam friend of mine did as well. He said he hasn't played Arcade Story since the start of Season 2, so he guesses it unlocks by default. Has anyone never played Arcade Story? If so, is image #76 unlocked?

Alex, go back to this question and try not to deflect to Fallout bloody mess perk or reducing it to all 2D graphics. Is there anything specific to Doekuramori's drawing style and unique depiction of violence that Kibble could find particularly obscene compared to another ultra-violent game like Killing Floor? Kibble has been playing KF3 a lot recently and doesn't seem to have any issue with it, unless I'm wrong?

Again, you've been deflecting to other games that are not Beyond Citadel. It's now on YOU to give a proper answer. "You may as well just say, I dunno, I like it", as you would put it.

Short version; I added this to my launch options:

-nohmd -DX12

(Right click the game in your Steam library, choose "Properties" > "General" and put these into the text field under "LAUNCH OPTIONS")

I couldn't find this solution here in the Steam discussions, so I thought I'd share, might help someone out.


Explanation:
The common "disable starting in SteamVR" solution didn't fix my crashing, so I kept trying.

I managed to catch a glimpse of an error message at one point (including the line "DXGI_ERROR_INVALID_CALL") and saw that it was an UE4 error, googled a bit and found a solution. Forcing the game to run in DX12 (because DX11 kept crashing for me). That's what the -DX12 does.
It does start SteamVR on launch despite the -nohmd, but closes it again after a couple of seconds.

I couldn't play the game for over 2 years now because of this. Since this crash on startup is a very common problem, i would really liked to have an official patch. Left a very sour taste.
