And a year or so later a friend got the game and wanted to play it with me so I was like sure... I'll try the robot guy (mained the shield/drone guy) but a fresh playthrough was so easy and boring we quit early on... very lame. I'm sure Randy would have loved to charge $$$ to start a new character at max level so there was some inkling of challenge instead of wasting dozens of hours of our time getting there.

Ya, its a new trend that these types of games nerf content so people can get to endgame quicker. It is a HUGE reason why I am on board day 1 immediately. The same thing happened in BL2. They made all the raid bosses farmable and loot was too abundant. BL3 felt like it was just nerfed all around.

Same thing happens in Diablo games now too. I loved the hell out of Diablo 3 when it came out because it was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ difficult and terrifying (I only play hardcore). But I played it a couple of months ago and I was soloing max tier raids after 20 hours of playtime. The game basically turned into a Blizzard mod for MS paint.

So be prepared for that to happen again with Borderlands 4. These games always get ruined as soon as post-launch nerfs start

Companies have been trying to cater to the market for a long time, and the biggest market is casuals.

World of Warcraft had to tone down their endgame raids so that more players could participate in it just after the 2nd expansion in 2007.

Even Elden Ring had to nerf their game for more people to enjoy it. Hardcore hard mode games are just too niche to make money off.
