Just look at the dates the original XCOM came out and then how long between the 2012 version came out...the game that 2K said "no one wanted" and yet was exactly what players of the original wanted, and it sold well. Go see how well The Bureau: XCOM Declassified sold by comparison. It's a joke.

if 1 or 2 of your teammates dont understand that the weapon skill has a limited range and cant hit augur if youre too far away, and 90% of their shots miss, and also they mostly try to do weak uncharged attacks with it, this fight takes too long

Thank you for your insight once again. I think you are right here and it ultimately could be boiled down to personal reference when we consider the respec options in Last Epoch.
I had forgotten all about your examples about how other games do it (especially the PoE one).

To get back to the point of losing too many levels from the skill at low levels, could it be solved (or if not solved, at least mitigated) by giving a skill XP bonus at lower levels: the bonus would start at 100% skill XP gain and it would be decreased by player level? F.ex. I respec at level 25 so my skill XP would be +75% etc. Just an example, like I said, I really have not thought about it in detail.

I'm now only just starting to think about this myself however where do you start?

Many uniques and sets need a high level (50 and above) to equip and if you start off specifying your build with some of these in mind at low level to equip later you are heading in the direction of a less than perfect experience. In fact some web sites actually advise starting off an acolyte as a Warlock and then switching to Lich at 70.

Also what happens when your build cannot cut it anymore at a particular corruption level and you start to realise this is the best you can do. You have just picked up an item that would be solid for a different build that relies on having a specific ability that, without a respec, cannot be utilised on your build. What do you do?

Is it just start again? Or is it, as EHG has allowed, a full reset for next to nothing at the End of Time. I find that I actually prefer the way re-specification is carried out in this game.
