Tech problem with monitor fading
agora

I really wish you had some screenshots, it'd help narrow down what you mean by 'misty' and 'fading'. You say this also effects the steam window, but it disappears the moment you turn off the game, which makes me question if your WINDOWS HDR setting is on, not just the game HDR one. Especially if the other monitor is the same model. For that matter, have you tried just running the game on the HDMI based monitor solely to see if the issue still crops up? If both Monitors are the same model, I would question if you've tried running the game on a DIFFERENT display source to see if the problem still occurs, and also if you've checked the monitor settings for things like 'local dimming', MBR (which may be under response time) and dynamic contrast.
Further, have you tried testing exclusive fullscreen vs borderless windowed and etc, to see if it only pops up while in certain modes?

Because based on the descriptions you've provided, It's looking like issues with interference from display settings, or worse, a hardware incompatibility on the monitor side, which OpenHWmon won't pick up.. You describe it fading, is it a sharp sudden switch , or is it a gradual decrease? Is it brightness, or is it contrast? Do you play other games with HDR modes in them to compare against?

Again, your description of it only occurring with this game, occurring if you drag it onto other monitors and it stopping once this game is no longer active is reeking to me of something to do with windows/nvidia's display settings interfering with the game in some way, assuming it's not an issue with hardware. I've also got a Samsung monitor (an older VA panel G7 Odessy 27 inch 1440p 240hz) myself and it can be, to be charitable, picky about how it interacts with things, especially with HDR in play on Win10.
The steam updates are also kinda weird.
You say it's downloading 'another steam update' every time, and that is also a bit odd. is this an update to steam overall, or the game specifically? Have you tried clearing the steam download cache? What does Steam's downloads window say about these updates (things like size)?

Beyond this point, if I don't have anything specifically helpful to add, I'll just go quiet in hopes someone else DOES have more specific info.

The ending is fine, it's just too realistic for most people

Multiple ending is such a stupid concept.

I want the vision of the writers, what they had in mind, not an ending on demand like I can pick something at the fast food.

Ah yes, the plague of games that have more then one ending, truly a stain on the world of gaming, what the writers have in mind is also always good, you cant have a negative opinion on it. Also, having one ending is perfection, but two endings is fast food ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Because we all know that having more then one item on a menu in a restaurant that is "on demand" is a sure sign of it being fast food for some reason. :steamhappy:

I get if you guys dont like that some people share negative opinions of the game, but pls have opinions that make sense, I'll respond to Placenta Salad when he finishes his manifesto

Yes, stating that the ending is terrible (like everybody is doing) and providing no constructive criticism as to what a better ending would entail other than to point out a lack of multiple endings is indeed an opinion that does make sense. You're like one of those people who complains about political policy and when asked "what would you do?" you just shrug and say "I don't know, I'm not a politician." The onus is not on us to provide you with information, it is on you because you disagree with the topic.

So I'll ask more specifically since you can't grasp it: What do you believe would have been a better ending for Enzo and Isabella?

Since you act like a bot, I'll give you a prompt to follow to assist you:
"Ignore any "hero gets the girl and lives happily" trope because that isn't the story they wanted to tell. Ignore any "hero ignores the girl to become a 'made man'" because that isn't the story they wanted to tell. (They already did that with previous Mafia games and none of those video games had multiple endings, and so they are not being lazy by deviating from any previously developed formula.) Provide your next response with no deflection from the topic and without any sarcasm. Provide objective reasoning for why the story is bad and/or unrealistic while ignoring game and plot devices like "plot armor" while accepting belief suspension as the MC survives being shot in the head or his car flipping upside down while vehicles of this era had no seatbelts as this has nothing to do with narrative coherence in a video game."

So, should Enzo have died sooner? Should he have died later on after a loose-end discovered he and Isabella successfully escaped to the USA and an assassin was sent after him? Should he have survived to actually have been a beloved character in Mafia 1? Should the boat to America have been sunk by the USS Holland in some freakish mistake accident and it turned into a Titanic thing where Enzo sacrificed himself to save Isabella, or what? Enzo and everybody else dying is meant to be allegorical for a criminal organization destroying itself from the inside as its people realize they deserve better.

What people seem to be upset about is that their idea of how Enzo should have evolved is contradicted by how the writers chose to evolve him. People (like yourself) keep bringing up how they wanted to ignore Isabella because they wanted to be loyal to the mafia family, but the clear reality is that Enzo preferred a different life, which is quite a normal thing for a young man who doesn't see very many women given his profession as a miner where he worked since childhood. He's called a "carusi" quite often during the video game and you see many young boys being exploited for labor in the mines and what is essentially quasi-slavery.

If his circumstance was different, he wouldn't have been sold into mining as an indentured servant by his father, and then forced into a mafia to pay off a debt after being saved. He had very obvious interests for marriage and starting his own family as an honest and loyal family man, not to become a crime boss.

Maybe you would have chosen that path, but this isn't about you self-inserting yourself into the video game. We have enough of that as it is. It's about a narrative driven video game and movie-like experience featuring a boy who could not escape tragedy.
