Iceborne makes world way better. Yes all games are connected but between u and me no one (or very few people at least) play for lore/story. There are rumours about a lore, but I couldn't care less. Depending on the issues you are experiencing with the game iceborne may not solve them, as a dlc it starts from the core gameplay/design. And lastly since this game doesn't have any crossplay whatsoever i'd advise u to pick the game on whichever platform you have more people to play with.

It says it "Destroys one hero ongoing card at the end of the villain turn" but it destroys 2 of them.

You can turn off the obstacles by editing the gitgud.ini file.

No idea why they haven't brought it to Steam. So many would double dip for Steam features. The game is made and on PC, it's almost no effort. Why do these companies hate money?

Unrelated, the sport of Lawn Bowls, might be a little too crazy hyper fast for you as well.

i spammed their X"twitter" feed 2 months ago before the new scenario update and wrote back to me and said "ty for notifying us our team has noted this" after update still no fix then they told me to DM them all they did was give me a thumbs up... they really do not care about the players at all
