Purchasing new game on VAC banned acct.
I had just recovered this account from years ago, I'm aware of the cheating infraction I have committed on this account and was just curious, since I'm banned off most source games, If I were to purchase CS:GO for this account, will that immediately add on to the list of VAC bans even before I play it? Thanks.

If you have a source ban it only affects source based games. Any other game is unaffected by the ban. Unless you're married to your current account you might find it easier to purchase new games on a new account since some judge people solely by that "vac bans on record".

Some games have server plugins which will check you VAC status and kick you even if the ban is for another game. Just saying, start a new account.

I've never heard of such a plug-in like that. Understand I don't to have the burden of switching accounts just to play this game or switch to play another. It's a hassle. So in this instance, bottom line I can purchase CS:GO and not be VAC banned correct? I appreciate the advice on what I should do however I would still like to commit on one and only one account.

Ok, then you have been told already.

You can play CS:GO if you're banned from CS:S for example.

Click on steam on the top left corner, click on settings, then click on account, it will give you the list of games you have been banned from.

Valve games

The Valve Anti-Cheat system is enabled for servers displaying the Secured shield logo. Using custom skins, sounds or maps and playing multi-player mods which do not modify core .EXE and .DLL files will not result in a VAC ban
Cheating in one of the following Source games will result in a VAC ban for all games in the list and your items from Team Fortress 2 will be removed except any items that have been purchased:
  • Counter-Strike: Source
  • Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
  • Day of Defeat: Source
  • Team Fortress 2

Cheating in one of the following Gold Source games will result in a VAC ban for all games in the list:
  • Counter-Strike
  • Condition Zero
  • Ricochet
  • Day of Defeat
  • Team Fortress Classic
  • Half-Life: Deathmatch
  • Deathmatch Classic

Note:

Excluding the games listed above, VAC bans will only apply to the game the cheat was detected in. For example, a VAC ban in Modern Warfare 2 will not affect Modern Warfare 3.
