Any popular P2P MP game without server admins is going to be a cheat-fest.
Every goodie needs a baddy. Just like how every anticheat mechanism needs to be reversed, there is good vs evil etc. Its a symbiotic relationship. ying and yang, that sorta shiz.
Point being: there is always gonna be cheaters. It will never change. Its human nature. The way I see it, those cheat developers need a profit somehow. Just like how anticheat developers for Valve are kept in a job by said cheat devs.
lets assume for a second that suddenly overnight there were no more cheaters, I know this improbable but bear with me.
Then Valve would probably have less overheads allowing them to make their games cheaper for the same profit, OR they would keep the programers on the payroll and their games would have more content or come out faster because there are more people working on it.
You are assuming a symbotic relationship between cheat developers & anti-cheat developers, when a parasite/host relationship is probably more accurate.
Can i point you towards the posts on battlelog that are asking when all the cheaters are going to be banned?
Ya, because cheating in a co-op game (Dungeon Siege), that isn't even VAC protected, for a year means VAC doen't work.
Those with a VAC ban are banned form a specific game. Not from gaming. That wouldn't be justifiable.
He posted the name of a cheat website in his first post which is still their and bypassed the word filter. You are slipping.
Everyone hates cheaters. They are trying to combat them sir. We all feel your pain.
No, its symbiotic. One cannot exist without the other.
WHAT? I think we could all do without cheaters. I know I could.
I think parasitic seems much more accurate.
Yes, a completely morally sound society (non cheating) would be nice. Realistically though, it will never happen. And hating on cheaters also gets nowhere.
So developers and sellers are losing from me, as one who cares, but I am not just one, there are many more out there like me.
I also like stats. My stats are all messed up because of cheaters, kdr, win/loss ratio, get into games and leave so you don't keep giving the cheater kills etc. So VAC needs to work well or better. Why not ban a cheat altogether, cheats in one game - cheats in all? Ban the whole account and name, provide more id on signup... I don't know what the answer is, but it really needs to be better. As of now, wont be playing mw3 multi anymore, can't be bothered with the cheaters. Looking back, I am sorry I even bought it now and wasted so many hours on it.
