An issue with my computer is blocking the VAC system
Yes, I get it, there are a thousand posts on this. I fix it every time, endure my ban because every time I try to get back in I get the error time and time again, then once it's over I play a game or two and get kicked/banned again.

So far I've tried:
Enabling DEP
Changing DEP settings
Uninstalling my antivirus
Resetting the Windows Firewall
Repairing the steam service
Removing every application from the "hey, these apps may cause you issues" list
Following every BCD setting
Doing all of the above in Admin mode
Reinstalling Steam
Clearing the appcache
Verifying game (CS:GO) cache

I get kicked then banned every time.

My son, who plays on the same network, plays just fine.

I have an MSI GE70 2QE Apache Pro laptop, playing on a wired 1gb/s network. Windows 10 on basically clean install. I've disabled the Nvidia network client, still have the same issues.

What I want to know is if there is a test I can run before I try to play and get kicked/banned because I love playing with my son but I can't keep doing this. I'm a long time member with a 5-digit steamid who used to manage the Counter-Strike Team gaming ladder (300+ teams) with my wife on Proving Grounds. I've been playing since CS 1.2. All that to say that I don't appreciate the bans when I'm doing whatever I can to get this resolved and because there's no way to test it, I join a match, sometimes finish one or two, then I get continually kicked until I'm banned. Right now I'm waiting out a 24-hour ban because of some secret something on my computer that's blocking something from Steam from getting to my computer and I can't find it for anything.

TL;DR: I want my ban removed (yeah, right), and I want a tool to check to see if VAC can access my system before I join because I'm sick of getting banned.

Thank you, and God bless America.

I killed that Killer network utility - maybe that might help? I can't test again until tomorrow night.

I'd say it's a compatibility problem with VAC and Windows 10. I read many posts where ppl were talking about it and most of them are having Win10. Me included... :/
I talked to the Steam Support more than once and still didn't get any answer.

i hate to say it, cause i do love Steam but their support ticket lacks and it takes forever for a response.

you mean the program itself? i don't use the killer utility program? i doubt its that. maybe try adding steam to ur antivirus as an excluded file.

try using these commands in your command prompt, run it as admin:

bcdedit /deletevalue nointegritychecks

bcdedit /deletevalue loadoptions

bcdedit /debug off

bcdedit /deletevalue nx

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx OptIn

try these ones as well:

netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log

also check here to see what type of errors you are getting here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs

look at the bootstrap log

you can also try this:

logging into steam from another local admin account on windows 10 and NOT msa user account

you can also try this:

Windows Firewall Control is a good program to Control your windows firewall

BiniSoft.org

you can also try this:

Run Steam as Administrator and run it in Compatiblity mode and switch it to Windows 7, or Windows 8.

hopefully one of these suggestions help you, if the Killer Network thing doesn't work.

Resetting the netsock log shouldn't help. It's an access issue, not a local control issue. All the others outside of the Windows Firewall Control I've already run and had no luck. I'd love a VAC check tool to see if I could be certain that it's working. That's my goal. T-minus 2 hours until I can comp again and get kicked/banned.

Rinse and repeat.

Disable your 'killer' e2000 ethernet controller

those drivers are notorious for doing 'weird' things. Try it over wifi

I think the Killer NIC drivers are really shoddy. Honestly, most of the software from MSI for these z87 boards is horrible. Hopefully updates will be coming soon."

I found that link on Tom's Hardware...

I also found this: "Just to feed back I followed the advice to fully disable the Network Manager software and disable the Qualcomm Atheros Killer service and the NIC has been 100% since. Of course it just like a normal NIC now (without some features i.e. WOL). But at least it works!"
In this MSI thread: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=170617.msg1248...

This seem to be for the 2200, but still....good call by Satoru here.

Uninstall for the e2200 Killer network adapter:

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=168097.0

Actual driver is the Atheros AR8161 - download new here:

https://www.atheros.cz/atheros-network-drivers.html which will link you to here:

https://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=87&system=8

Testing this now.

OP, I am personally really sorry, as I assume you have to still wait to test this because of your cooldown from competetive. I am really anxious to hear back from you, as well as I am sure everyone else is, if in fact you see some improvement from the steps you are taking there and it really helps the community also, as I am sure you understand.

Thanks so much for keeping us informed, for posting those links and info, and good luck.

Win10 demands the killer adapter. I was kicked from a casual game earlier. That just sucked. On wifi for now until I can get a usb ethernet adapter.

Nevermind - I just got kicked from a comp match using my wifi adapter (Intel dual band wireless-ac 3160).

I'm uninstalling - 7 day ban. I guess that's what I get for doing everything I can to make it right.
CharlieMike01 Aug 13, 2015 @ 7:59pm
Same problem here. I started having the issue with the last update of the game.
