Nobody knows. They are delayed intentionally by Valve. But if you cheated on that account, don't risk storing items there.
Oh, and don't cheat :D

The duration of a VAC-ban certainly must depend on the extend of the crime?

no, any cheating is met with the same punishment when discovered: Permanent ban.

2005 is over
vac bans now last for all eternity

Typically, VAC bans are delayed anywhere from minutes to weeks.
The bans are applied in three ways, all of which require an initial, definite and specific detection:

1) As soon as readily possible or at least, fairly swiftly, with a delay for background cross-checks and error management.
2) Along with a slightly variable timeframe but with a definite minimium
3) Within a set cycle once an 'untrusted' flag has been applied.

The type 3 bans reflect a specific type of cheat traditionally such as CVAR patching, whereby there is limited possibility for any development or enhancements to the cheat method or any possible details of detection evasion are revealed through the application and notification of the cheat being detected. Therefore, the identification marketr of 'account untrusted' may be applied instantly without consequence. This is specific for Valve and their Source Engine.

The type 2 bans are applied with delay specifically because this prevents cheat developers from being able to readily test and perfect their product, and also maximises the overall potential number of cheats caught within each cycle. Once a new cheat method is identified and detection criteria included in the VAC repertoire, the process begins in which these bans are applied in 'wave cycles'
With each wave cycle, numerous statistical checks and scrutiny of associated data are applied to minimise any odd behaviour such as representative of an error. Should such an error be apparent, the bans may be revoked.

Finally, the type 1 bans are applied for the most simple, oldest, commonly found and basic cheats or cheat attempts. The use of Cheat Engine (which has no requirement for developers to try to defy, hide from or avoid detection by VAC) falls into this category. Also, any modified DLL or executable files whereby signatures do not match will also be categorised here. The reasoning is that there is that there is no development for these cheats, they are glaringly obvious, and most likely are the sort available freely and publically. There is no advantage in a delay for banning cheats using these methods, therefore, the bans are applied in much shorter time frame.

_

As such, it seems as though you are unlikely to receive a VAC ban on the account if oit has been some days. However, if your story as written is correct, that CE was actually hooked into CSGO when you joined a secured server, then you will definitely receive a VAC ban. Therefore, you must have been mistaken or have written incorrectly.

ALL Valve Source and GoldSrc games contain the necessary funcitonality to cheat in whichever manner is required without any need for 2nd or 3rd party software. Console commands are accessilbe in all the games, and Valve even made available the SOurce Engine and Hammer editor etc.

One hopes that this experience has granted something of an epiphanical understanding of why not to cheat, or at the least, to cheat within the methods authentically supplied by the game developers that are not in violation of VAC requirements.

thanks but my problem is in tf2 not csgo but whatever this works same source engine
"It should be noted that VAC employs the use of delayed bans in order to disrupt the development process of cheats - a ban imposed today may have been the result of a cheat detected by VAC two weeks previously."

Yeah sorry, it is the same information one can substitute CSGO and TF2 equivalently for the purposes of this topic.

Hi buddy. Read through your reply. (Thanks!)
My problem is I used cheat engine to cheat an offline game.forgot to exit it and started CSGO.[CE didn't inject into CSGO]
3days passed,my account is still normal ,no warning,no untrusted,no VAC.
What does that mean?
Many thanks.
P.S.:Where does your info come from?

as long as ce and csgo did not meet each other and each one of them went alone to do their own thing then you are completely safe

I am surprised if VAC wasn't automated how many people would actually get banned for admitting to having cheat engines.
