Does a vac ban spread across multiple accounts?
I just wanted to ask: if there are 2 steam accounts on one PC, and one of those steam accounts gets VAC banned from Counter Strike, does the other one get banned too? Also, if you get VAC banned in one game do you get VAC banned in all Source games? So if I got banned in lets say CS 1.6, would I also be banned from TF2, Counter Strike, and other VAC protected games? Just wondering.

Will the other account also get banned? Yes, because it's being used on a machine that's infested with cheats. Will both get banned at the same time? Probably not, but Family Sharing plays into that - kind of irrelevant though given both accounts will get banned.

As for Source games, that's covered here:

If your Family/Library sharing or phone number sharing, all users in the sharing will receive the ban at the time it goes live.

That's not really how it works. An account can't be banned just because the system has an installed and inactive cheat.

Edit: Of course this depends on the anti-cheat but when talking about Valve's Anti-Cheat it should work that way.

All accounts that shared the same number when the VAC was applied will also get vac banned. If you add the number AFTER the ban was already applied, the account will not be affected

These questions are answered in the official support pages. For example source game bans :

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/647C-5CC1-7EA9-3C29#eligible

Phone number sharing and VAC bans :

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/647C-5CC1-7EA9-3C29#phone

And yes, as it says, the number can immediately be used again, if tied to any account that was previously VAC banned.

Also, Family Library sharing can result in BOTH accounts being banned, if any cheating infraction takes place while sharing libraries with any other account.

Yes, cheaters often foolishly think that it only matters which account they use to cheat with, and do so on the same PC where they previously installed cheats that resulted in their older account being VAC banned.

AND because VAC continued to detect the cheats on the PC in question, their newly created accounts were VAC banned also, which was also applied in a delayed fashion.

THUS results many coming here and making threads titled something like "I was VAC banned for nothing".

When what really happened was, they had no idea how VAC works, and thought they could outsmart the anticheat system. :steammocking:

The new Steam Families only bans the owner and borrower if the borrower cheats at the time of the infraction now.

Why would we talk about any other anti cheat in the VAC forum?
