VAC bans are delayed from time of detection to the time the ban is actually applied.

What you were doing when the ban was applied is irrelevant.

all VAC bans come from the detection of a known cheat, whether it is used on the account itself or some sort of sharing has occurred (account, library or phone number).

Users are responsible for the security of the account and all that happens on it

Vac bans are issued for known cheats being detected on the computer while the account was connected to a vac server. VAC bans are delayed, what the account was doing at the time the ban was activated is unlikely to have anything to do with the ban.

Anything that tampers with protected game files is treated as a cheat regardless of it giving an advantage or not (skin changers, etc). Steam/Valve will not release any information about what was detected, that information will only help those that cheat and make cheats.

You are responsible for the security of the account and what is on the computer(s) the account uses. It does not matter who was using the account to cheat.

No one on the forums can remove nor investigate a ban. Only falsely applied VAC bans are removed automatically by the system at a later time.

This is not a ban appeal forum. You cannot appeal a VAC ban. Nothing you post is going to get the ban removed. There is an INFO link on your profile, click it and read what it tells you.

Thanks for the quick replies. Is there a way to find out exactly what they VAC banned for? No one else uses this account and as far as I know I have never been hacked (as in no suspicious activity on my account)

This is really upsetting as I love playing this game and have never dealt with anything like this before.

Use the "info" button next to the ban notice on your profile, please.

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/647C-5CC1-7EA9-3C29#reason

"Can you tell me what program or software caused my VAC ban?"

No. We do not disclose the cheats that were detected while connected to a VAC-secured server that resulted in a VAC ban. We have detailed records for each VAC ban, however, releasing this information would only benefit cheat developers.

That makes sense. I guess I am just at a loss of what to do.

Also the other confusion I have is my Steam Account page says I have no VAC bans but the Profile web page says I have 1.

Is there a delay between them?

I appreciate the help.

To be honest, I have personally never seen anyone post a comparison between what is reported from their account settings menu, as seen in your second image, with the fact that the red text of the ban is visible on the profile, such as in your case.

So it's possible there is a delay there, yes. But I am not 100% sure on that myself.

If a VAC ban is applied incorrectly, it will be automatically removed. This can happen in very rare cases, so unless it is a mistake, it might be a delay as you asked, yes.

Any idea how long that might take?
Should I give it a few minutes or a day?

We normally reply here that if a ban is a mistake, it usually takes around a couple of weeks at the most to be automatically removed.

There is no way to know for sure though. The system is fully automated. And you can't appeal in any way. So all you can do is wait, if you wish.

Thanks for all your help The Giving One.

I will sit back and wait.

A few days to a few weeks (only if it is false). Otherwise it is permanent

Feel free to update us here in this thread if your settings menu shows the ban later. It would be helpful for us to know that there seemed to be a delay with that, as you asked about. That may help us to help others in the future with a similar question if it comes up.

I do believe it will take a while before the information propagates to the other servers. Nothing happens instantaneously in the digital world. At least, not yet.

You know, of all the threads that are VAC ban related, this is one of the more chill threads I have ever seen.

OP, I am sincerely pulling for you. That won’t mean anything in the end, mind, but thank you for being decent about it.

If it is not an error, well, thank you for being decent but then the ban is permanent
I hope the op gets his ban removed, I have to agree these kind of threads in the vac forums are not common at all.
