VAC banned on MW2 for joining a modded lobby?

Hi all,

I wanted to make this post this morning because a couple months ago I was VAC banned after joining a modded lobby on mw2... The guy gave me 11th prestige and then put me back down to 10th prestige. Once I exited the game I had been VAC banned. I then reached out to steam support to ask why I was banned and they deleted my message chain.... I wanted to ask in the discussion tab if this is normal for being banned by joining a modded lobby and what I should do. I've tried to reach out to steam a couple times to no avail. So, I will be issuing a charge back on the game... What do you guys think of this? Is this normal?

Whatever is the reason for the ban happened a while ago, and then the ban's random timer ran out.

VAC bans are delayed, so whatever caused the ban could be from days or weeks before the ban arrived.

Also, a chargeback is a very bad idea. Credit fraud is not taken lightly.

Hi FFL, this ban was pretty much instant, I joined a modded lobby and the guy started messing with my rank so I closed the game right away and was banned and not able to play. My friend suggested that the cheats this guy was using was then possibly in my computers memory which then trips a VAC ban however that's gotta be the most stupid system I've ever heard of... I got busy with my personal life but I will definitely be rectifying this with a charge back...

not always delayed. They can be instant and can be like delayed by 1 hour or even 6 months.

The charge back is a very bad idea if you want to continue using your account, that's taking money out of Valves pockets and they will limit your account if you do so

It is a technical impossibility to be VAC banned joining a modded lobby. VAC only detects cheats either hooked to the process or injected into the directory architecture on your device.

That excuse didn't work even back when the game was new. It certainly doesn't work now.

Yep, old excuse that is totally played out.

It was so bad even back in the day, they had a support page for it.

No, playing in a "hacked" lobby or otherwise joining a modified server will not result in a VAC ban. However, altering the game files to allow hosting of such servers may trigger a VAC ban.

They had "not" in bold text for a reason.

So you're so upset that your account was caught cheating you're now willing to get your account banned from making purchases?

Read this. Stop lying. Joining modded lobbys will never get you banned, otherwise i would have been banned too.
