False ban by overwatch in CS2
(Copying over my post from the CS2 community thread)
Got hit with an overwatch game ban around 12 hours ago despite never cheating or doing any of the things that apparently provoke game bans. I know there will obviously be skeptics and I can't really help that as all I have is my word, just know if I were truly cheating I wouldn't be here typing this out.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how game bans work, I've heard that false VAC bans can be removed but I've heard nothing about false game bans, is it the same deal?

I've also heard a dozen other stories of people being falsely banned since I've been banned, does this increase our chance of getting our accounts back?

Edit: opened CS and the bar at the top is saying that I got a VAC ban but the ban on my profile is saying I got a game ban.

Why? This is the VAC forum, Overwatch is not VAC.

Still a game ban on your profile though. So yeah, a game ban it is. In case of CSGO, an Overwatch ban, specifically.

Read the info link that is on your profile next to the ban text. Any game ban that is visible on your profile, is permanent. Furthermore, a game ban in CS:GO or CS2, is permanent.

1 game ban on record | Info <<<<----
0 day(s) since last ban

The duration of the game ban is determined by the developer. Only permanent game bans are displayed on the user’s profile. Temporary game bans, or suspensions, are not displayed.

You need better reading comprehension!!!

Overwatch game bans have nothing to do with VAC bans. You need to take this issue to the game that banned you. No one here can help you to remove the game ban.

This is a discussion forum only.

I have personally never seen a CSGO game ban get removed. Maybe one has at some point, but that should give you an idea of the odds of your getting removed.

Even Steam Support cannot remove it. Any game ban where Valve is the developer, is permanent.

It applies to CS:GO, DoTa 2, and CS2. It applies to CS2 because, it is not a new game. It is an upgrade to CS:GO.

The text within the red box applies to CS2 as well as it is an upgrade to CS:GO.

If Steam Support cannot remove it and they can't, that means that no one here can either.

I posted this here because the game is saying that I'm VAC banned so I wanted to see if that was a known issue or a normal occurrence.

Take two seconds and look at your profile, again. What it says on your profile is all that matters.

Okay fair enough. One last thing tough.

Say you were in my position and you just got game banned for doing nothing. What you do next? Just cop it on the chin?

Posting here doesn't do anything. A game ban in either CS:GO or CS2 is either for blatant cheating, a second griefing offense, or being involved in MM manipulation, which is also known as smurfing. There are no other reasons except these three.

So the account was not banned for "doing nothing"

What do you do next? Create a new account and don't break the rules again.

That's why I'm here man, I haven't done any of those things. I've never cheated, never received a 30 day griefing ban, or done MM manipulation (smurfing I'd assume?).

If I was lying I'd be wasting both our time. I have done nothing wrong and there seems to be a fair few people with the same problem as me. That's why I'm posting in this thread. I have around $5k in CS items which is why I don't want to just move on.

People with a higher value inventory have been banned for the same reasons….

If it makes you feel any better at least you were treated the same way

And there is nothing we can provide you other then the info Valve make public. Valve does not accept appeals so there is no way for you to appeal the ban.

Valve does not read anything posted here and Steam Support cannot remove the ban.

What part of you cannot appeal the ban are you not understanding? You don't have a choice. The ban is permanent.
