Reformat hdd or Reset pc?

Hey, i recently got vacced on csgo, and i want to start over on a new acc. And i was wondering, do i need to reformat my hdd or is Resetting my pc to factory setting enough to get all suspicious files of my pc and not get vac ban on my new account?

resetting to factory should be 99.99999% effective. I've never faced that particular situation so I really couldn't say if I'd take the 0.00001 chance it'd screw me over if I didn't do a complete format.

This is why you should never, ever download and install cheats... you (most people) really don't have any idea of what they are really doing to your computer.

Resetting your pc or formatting it is just a precaution in case the hack had a trojan in it, just scan the hack with virustotal, if its a virus, scan your computer and clean it, delete the hack, create new account and buy csgo again. (warning, do not link the same phone from the banned account to the new one!)

Actually, the phone number used on a banned account will be suspended for three months and cannot be applied to another account during that time.

So Valve only recommends the reformat, as you can see from that official support page. I suggest that you do that. Roll the dice, and sometimes you come up snake-eyes so fair warning ahead of time.

Even when some in the past thought they totally removed all the cheats, they still were later VACed on a newly created account. We cannot know for sure it was the previous cheat(s) that caused that but it is safe to assume that it happened to some of them at least, since many have had that happen to them.

reset factory is much easier step and should remove all the active hacks.

unless you are using hacks that involves virtual drives,
that would require you to format hdd(s)

if you do only the virus scan, make sure you do it after booting from a cd which was not created on your pc, something like: http://www.techmixer.com/free-bootable-antivirus-rescue-cds-download-list/
