Got a VAC / Untrusted yesterday by phone number and I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have

First of all, if you came here to say stuff like "once a cheater, always a cheater / you're lying / you'll never get unbanned", please don't mind commenting, as you will be completely ignored.

Everything I'm typing here will also be at me profile. Anyway, let's go straight to the point.

Yesterday I got a "VAC" / Untrusted ban by PHONE NUMBER BAN SYSTEM.

Turns out my phone number was linked with an old vac banned accout, even though the ban was 100+ days old, the new system still got my account banned the day the update was applied (04/29/2016).

My alt acc (no phone number linked) is still intact and 100% clean.
Even though it has 800+hrs, I haven't been banned, and never will, proving that I'm a LEGIT NON-CHEATING PLAYER, and this account (/id/verhoordown) was UNFAIRLY BANNED.

The new phone number ban system can be pretty good to catch actual cheaters, but it is also banning non-cheating legit players, such as MYSELF.

If you don't want to risk getting untrusted/vac banned without cheating, I highly recommend you NOT to link your phone number with steam, unless you're 100% SURE it hasn't EVER been linked to ANY other accounts.

Valve PLEASE fix your new ban system, as it is unfairly banning non cheating players.

WHY I THINK MY BAN WAS UNFAIR:
My old account was banned BEFORE the phone number ban system was implemented, so I SHOULDN'T have been banned by this new system, as those were 2 completely different accounts at complete different times.

At my profile you can see a screenshot of my csgo main menu, showing that it was actually an "Untrusted ban" and not an actual VAC ban. But what does it mean? It means that VAC did not detect any hacking/cheating at my account during my playtime.
Yes, it was indeed an automatic ban, just like VAC, but it doesn't mean it's because I cheated. If it had detected any cheats, it would show VAC at my main menu, and not "Untrusted", therefore proving that it was banned by the new phone number ban system, AND NOT VAC.

If you want to, save the accounts I pointed above permanent links, even though I have no plans to change it, at least for a while.

I already contacted steam support by email and I'm waiting for an answer to know if they can help me or not.

I am not really sure what you mean, but this pinned thread in the CSGO forum is official as far as I know and current on information concerning "account untrusted bans".

Okay i got all neccesary informations.

untrusted bans are for cheating not for linking your phone number.

If your old account is Vac banned, so your newer would be VAC Banned too, if it would have been transferred.
Thats not the case so its simply the serversided anticheattool what caught you in the act of cheating.

Because untrusted is 100% correct and for cvar. You had account untrusted so that has nothing to do with the phone number ban, as the good Satoru said before.

It doesn't really 'turn into' a VAC ban, it's just that once you get an Untrusted ban, after a while a '1 VAC ban on record' is shown on your profile to display that you actually have an Untrusted/VAC ban.

Some questions for you, unless I have miss them somehow here and if so, please excuse me..

1. Are you playing all your accounts from the same computer and not sharing your account or playing on computers that are not familiar to you or that you have total control over ?

2. Have you reformatted the computer since the last time you were VAC banned (not this time but the last time on the other accounts that you mentioned) ?

Cheats can be really difficult to manually remove once installed. You seem to have several bans across different accounts. That susgests that cheats may still be on that computer and are being detected by VAC on each account. That is not the same as the phone number ban, VAC has actually detected the cheats if what I am saying is the case.

That's what I've been saying all along. Just because you got Untrusted and not a VAC ban still does not mean that you didn't cheat. Untrusted actually means that you used cheats 100%, so even a higher percentage than a VAC ban.

Also to add on the 'phone bans':

No, phone number ban is not really comparable to bans like VAC or Game ban.

It simply means that if you receive a VAC ban or a Game ban on a single account, and you have one or more other accounts that use the same phone number at the time of the original infraction, then that account or accounts are also given a ban. Also the phone number is given a cooldown of original 3 months (increases if more) cooldown so you cannot create a new account with the same phone number for that period. I didn't spot a line on the Steam Subscriber Agreement that they cannot terminate subscriptions to their game on previous accounts if you cheated.

2. Not really. But I don't think that's what caused this recent ban.
There is indeed a banwave coming, it is a very aggressive one, and the phone number system is making a great part of it.
If it really was a "old cheat" still somehow stored at my pc, I think I should have been banned at my alternative account as well.
