SAM - Steam achievement manager question

I have searched around the internet, and i found two results, people say you can get vac banned from using SAM, and people say you cannot (If you aren't connected to a game wish uses VAC server)

My sister used this on her account to unlock all the TF2 weapons connected to the achievments, and thenn reset'ed them. Without any problems, a few years ago, but, it seems the maiority did get banned for using SAM.

So here is what i want, i was thinking of using it to reset my Fallout NV achievments, since it has been yeeears since i played this game, and i'd like to re-do them all over again.

Can someone enlighten me about the subject? Is it safe or nah?

Okay thats only logical. But there exists what ifs, i fear it might be triggered by steam itself maybe, and put a single ban on my profile for breaking the rules by using third party programs? Thats why i am asking here to see if someone with a decent understanding and a detailed answer could enlighten me on the subject.

I think using SAM is against the rules but it has nothing to do with VAC. VAC is an in-game anti-cheat system so using SAM is more like cheating Steam, not a game. Since there is not a punishment for this type of action (And I'm sure Steam wouldn't suspend your account just for cheating achievements) SAM is something Valve doesn't care much about at the moment.

I wouldn't recommend but if you want go ahead, just make sure you close the sam maybe even delete it

If you would have searched this forum, then your search result should have shown many threads that have been about this same topic of SAM and if it WILL cause a VAC ban.

The usual answer is that there is no evidence that SAM definitely WILL cause a VAC ban, but like anything else, if you use it, then you use it at your own risk.

Be careful if you reset achievements sometimes they won't work again if you earn them

The author of SAM himself acknowledges that SAM may cause a VAC ban. Still, Fallout isn't VAC-protected.

Just don't even bother. Earn the damn achievements the way it was meant to. Are you really wanting to risk the appearance of your account simply because you want all the achievements?

Its actually really disliked in the community to have every single achievement unlocked in the game at the exact same time. Aka clear sign of SAM use. People will dog on you for using it.

Do what you want tho. If you wanna be dumb go ahead and be dumb.

To all, i did it btw, seems not to be or cause any problems. Deleted the program soon after to be safe. And i can unlock all the achievements by playing normaly now aswell. (As some stated it might bug the games achievs nowadays..)
